Something that is very important to remember when we watch any war film is to do our own research either before or after. TV shows and films are there to make money and tell a story. It may be a good story, but it is not always accurate. Whenever I watch something, Im always googling it right after to find out what is real, and what is fiction. Do any of you ever remember when the History Channel was actually good and Ann Medina used to host "Fact and Film"? Ann would interview veterans to talk about the events, then show the movie. One of my favourite movies has always been "The Devils Brigade". It is pretty light on facts, and has that 60's campy feel too it. But if you research it, you quickly figure out how much was just baloney. Still love it though. That being said, if you are going to watch SAS Rogue Heroes, make sure you do your research. And a great place to start is here @blair_mayne. They very matter-of-factly set the record straight. So give them a follow to find out the Facts before the Film.
I loved the first season of SAS Rogue Heroes and look forward to season 2! I know some people are not fans as it takes liberties, but I personally think it gets the right balance between fact and fiction. What I really enjoy, is watching shows like SAS Rogues, then doing my own research to find out what parts were exaggerated, but also find out which parts seem to crazy to be true, but in fact are true after all. What do you think? Also make sure to follow @FightingOnFilm so you know all the best content to watch!

FREE BADGE, 1783 - 1789 badges were issued to the Charleston’s free persons of color. Although the law did not require these badges to display dates or names, it still demanded that they be worn "exposed to view."

History has shown that words and actions rooted in hateful ideologies, when left unchallenged, can escalate into widespread tragedy. As we approach the anniversary of the November Pogrom in 1938, a tragic milestone marking the systematic onset of violence against Jewish communities across Germany, we are reminded that warning signs of hatred must neither be ignored nor tolerated. The Auschwitz Memorial calls for a united response to condemn all forms of antisemitism and intolerance. The recent vicious attacks and acts of brutal, targeted physical violence in Amsterdam reflect deeply troubling trends that, disturbingly, echo the grave dangers of the past.

John Smith invented a new long-distance communication system using signal lanterns like this one. Users would cover and uncover the lantern in coded patterns to send messages. Soldiers at Fort Fisher & crew aboard blockade runners communicated with each other using these tools.

#BattlefieldSpotlight: Blackstock’s Plantation Blackstock was the site of a major battle between Patriot Brigadier General Thomas Sumter and British Lieutenant Colonel Banastre Tarleton, ending in an American victory on November 20, 1780. At the time of the battle, the Blackstock’s log-built house, barns, and outbuildings were on the site, which provided unchinked openings through which the American forces fired from during the battle. Unfortunately, none of these buildings remain today, but visitors can still see the sharp hill and 50-acre pasture that sloped down to a shallow stream. In addition, there is a granite Blackstock’s Battlefield Monument on the site detailing the battle. thelibertytrail.org/trail-si…
