US IRA subsidies frozen!
Already contracted but not-yet paid out IRA money halted. for clean-H2, only few Mio$ paid out but 2bn still open. Batteries & solar might suffer most as in construction phase already --> may face cash-flow issues during 2025.

Finally the hot needle for the AI bubble is there.
DeepSeek trained for an amazing low 5.5Mio budget, better in tests and even offered for free.
Meta already freaks out cause if somebody offers it for free and is better, what happens to investors that bet on high future profit

Suddenly ASSB seem to become real as 1st incumbent plans SoP - Samsung SDI. Before it was ~15y of many startups and 32y of Solid State Electrolyte being 2nd most patented battery component but now Samsung seems to feel to be "safe" to make SoP at scale.

LIB cells become bigger and bigger. EVE Energy now revealed 560Ah cells for ESS applications. I think at some point in future we need a forklifter to carry a single cell in 10-15 years from now *joke of course 🤣 🤣🤣

LG ES will also introduce Cell-to-pack for its high-Ni pouch cells in 2025. While NMC811 prismatic CTP was developed in 2019 (Nio/CATL), an application to pouch was thought to be difficult to manage pressure homogeneity in pouch modules.

Tesla Berlin gigafactory is not stopped but will be delayed is today's update. This is the best PR strategy.
Usually, the way is: first report delays or slower building, then report downsizing, then stay with small size production.

Policy can change business & market shares significantly. The new US inflation reduction act will incentivize EV's with $7'500 for US made+minimum of critical materials sources outside China (2023 only >40%, 2028 > 80%, 2030 100%).

This gives massive headwinds for CN companies which have >90% of value chain in CN but also urges Koreans to change their supply chain as it is also largely depending on China especially on pCAM, AAM, LiPF6, LiOH, CoSO4 and many more.
CATL CTP3.0 now switches to side cooling & bigger prismatic cells contacted in the bottom plate now reaching 255Wh/kg on NCM pack lvl. The path to bigger cell continues with previous heat shields btw cells now being replaced by cooling plates directly.

Were do the ~60$/kg of Li2CO3 go instead of 6-8$/kg in 2020. See SQM profit. Variable pricing as fct(demand:suppy) will be seen all over the place because why should any mining company want to limit their upside? But always remember also the downside e.g. Galaxy Resources
Impressive 1Q 2022 earnings of #SQM. Congratulations to my former colleagues!
Timing and execution of expansions has been perfect and contract structures making it possible to capture upside of price cycle.
Li and I businesses should continue doing this well next quarters.
