The legendary voice of Cyclops across TV and games, Norm Spencer, passed away six years ago today at the age of 62 🕊️
Norm Spencer was Cyclops. ❤️🕯️
Spencer gave Scott Summers the firm, commanding presence that made him feel like the X-Men’s field leader. He was also the voice behind those unforgettable “Previously, on X-Men…” recaps that instantly told fans another adventure was about to begin.
And his Marvel legacy didn’t stop with the show. Spencer carried Cyclops into Spider-Man: The Animated Series and classic fighting games, where his booming “Optic Blast!” became permanently attached to the character.
Some of his most remembered roles include:
Cyclops / Scott Summers (X-Men: The Animated Series)
Cyclops / Scott Summers (Spider-Man: The Animated Series)
Cyclops (X-Men: Children of the Atom)
Cyclops (X-Men vs. Street Fighter)
Cyclops (Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter)
Cyclops (Marvel vs. Capcom 2)
Drax the Destroyer (Silver Surfer)
Billy Blazes (Rescue Heroes)
Hades (Mythic Warriors: Guardians of the Legend)
Sly Fox (Dumb Bunnies)
Cyclops has had other voices since.
But for fans who grew up with the ’90s X-Men, Norm Spencer is still the sound of Scott Summers putting on the visor and taking command.
Rest in peace, Norm Spencer. Six years gone, never forgotten. 🕊️

Dear Rivals!
We’ve seen the community’s feedback regarding today’s announcement of Storm’s most recent costume as well as the overall sentiment towards her cosmetic options. We hear your passion and want to share our plan going forward with the community:
1. We will be upgrading the Sacred Skies swimsuit costume to Legendary for free in the near future. This upgrade will include an all-new lobby animation and an updated MVP animation. The costume will still be sold at the current price of $16.
2. Players who purchase the costume will receive a free Ultimate effect upgrade.
3. We want to ensure the community that there will be more Storm Legendary tier Costumes coming, so please keep your eyes on the skies over the rest of the year.
While we deeply value the expressive nature of our players, our number one goal is to create a positive community for everyone who loves this game. And while we understand that tensions run high, harassment of our staff, including the development team and moderators, is not acceptable. As the upgrades will take some time, please be patient, as we are already hard at work on the above. Get ready for the Mistress of the Elements to reign over the battlefield soon. Ignite the battle!
