Now online: A @fayeratlanta manifesto from the threatened Atlanta Forest—with a new intro on recent police escalations, including the killing of activist Manuel “Tortuguita” Teran—explores the relationship between the Jewish sabbatical year & destruction.

The US Govt does not “peacefully” invade other countries under the guise of ending authoritarian rule. The colonizers that left Europe did not “peacefully” form a new country. Ending (most) slavery was not “peaceful”.
And ending police violence won’t be, either.
Take a few minutes to read about Georgia’s Domestic Terrorism law and how it’s being levied against people protesting from treestands and in the streets.

in case it gets buried in subsequent news: GA police falsely claimed that Defend the Atlanta Forest was an "organization" which the DHS had designated as Domestic Violent Extremists, and this was accepted and repeated by local news at least one judge despite being LITERALLY A LIE
Cops can’t build trust when they refuse to acknowledge WHY they were never trusted in the first place, and have made no genuine steps to end their violent reign.
You know it’s going to be garbage when the tweet from @RichmondPolice starts with #TrustBuilder
2022 showed us that increased funding for police departments correlates with an increase of people murdered by the police.
The bail set for 2 people in Atlanta that were arrested at a protest last weekend was higher than the bail set for any of the 5 Memphis cops that were charged with murder. And in ATL, 4 people were denied bail. This system thinks cop cars are more important than black men
“If you see something, say something” is a trademarked slogan which was implemented by NY MTA after 9/11/01. The language in this tweet from the City of Richmond uses that slogan to associate people protesting police brutality as domestic terrorists.
The government does not get to define “safe spaces”. They do not get to define when, where, or how we protest. If they truly understood, they’d understand that IT IS THEM THAT WE ARE PROTESTING AGAINST, and these attempts to gaslight us are not resolutions.
We understand. The City of Richmond is providing safe spaces for gathering throughout today, Saturday, January 28th, from 9 AM to 4 PM. #WeAreRVA #BuildingCommunity
We all recognize the historical racism of American policing, and it’s not lost on us that all these police departments are finding it easier to tweet condemnations of the murder of Tyre because it was Black police officers. The actions of those officers were absolutely normal.

You can not dictate to people how to protest & resist the violent state oppression we are all experiencing

weird move for every police dept. to come out calling the video disgusting when everyone’s going to see it and be like, wait, but you do this all the time.
TBH, Georgia called in the National Guard to curtail protests tonight, following the release of the videos showing the murder of Tyre, but they are definitely on edge regarding the Cop City protests and doing anything they can to oppress the protestors.
Just in: Georgia's governor announced a state of emergency and is sending in the National Guard to #StopCopCity to shut down the forest defenders.
