Our Government has taken serious note of complaints that Kannadigas are being denied employment opportunities and native Kannada speakers are being overlooked in Bengaluru’s IT-BT sector.
The rights, dignity and employment opportunities of Kannadigas are of utmost importance to our government. We will not tolerate any deliberate discrimination against the youth of our state, and appropriate action will be taken against any private establishment found engaging in such practices.
I want to assure everyone that the government will directly look into this matter and take all necessary steps to address these concerns. Therefore, I appeal to all organisations not to visit IT-BT companies directly or take matters into their own hands. Such issues must be resolved through dialogue and within the framework of the law. Our government remains firmly committed to protecting the rights and interests of Kannadigas.

Calling mandatory local language signage a "language row" distorts the narrative, @nabilajamal_. Supporting the native language of the state is natural and standard practice across the world.
How is this 'language imposition'? Why is this even a subject of debate?
Responsible and fair journalism would question why so many establishments and apartment complexes fail to use Kannada prominently in Bengaluru, which is the capital city of Kannada land and whose sole official language is Kannada.

In 2008, I worked for an Indian IT services company near Kadubeesanahalli, Bengaluru, with around 5,000–10,000 employees.
Annual cultural events were dominated by Hindi, Telugu and Tamil programmes. During one event, HR organised Antakshari but allowed only Bollywood songs.
I requested that Kannada songs be included, but HR initially refused.
We mobilised over 200 Kannada employees to email HR. After three days of responding to these emails, HR finally agreed to allow Kannada songs.
This is how Kannada gets sidelined in Bengaluru's corporate sector. Discrimination can begin during recruitment, while cultural exclusion continues inside the workplace.
In my view, Kannada, Kannadigas and Karnataka are taken for granted by far too many IT companies.
The Karnataka government must hold companies accountable for respecting Kannada, Kannadigas and Karnataka. Companies unwilling to respect the language and culture of the land should have no place operating here.

I agree with CMs sentiment in his post. However legitimate questions arise about political culture thats developing in Keralam-
➡️Why do some people glorify Jinnah - a man who divided of India on basis of religions?
➡️Why do some politicians justify, defend and encourage proscribed Terror organisations like Hamas and their violence?
➡️Why do political parties like Cong and CPM hv political alliances with avowed anti-secular, anti-constitution orgn like JamaatEIslami ?
As much as CM @vdsatheesan twists and turns in the political wind to justify this destructive political culture, let this be clear - the only reason some people think they can get away with insults and insensitive behavior (Dont forget this cafe is named after Kashi - the holy hindu city) is because they get a free-pass (encouragement) from Cong/CPM for this
Imagine CM Keralas tweet and response if someone opens a restaurant named after a Muslim holy city and served Pork ? He will find himself being an Ex-CM or fleeing for his life or both.
I was abused and targeted by @pinarayivijayan for speaking against Hamas radicalisation effort in Keralam.
Art 19 - right to free speech and expression applies to every Indian.
Art 19(2) restrictions to free speech apply to every Indian.
So my advise to CM Satheesan is this - ensure sensitivity and respect to ALL Malayalees equally. Hindus, Christians and Muslims.
Do not encourage anti-India , anti-Hindu insults/discourse/actions/sentiment like Jinnah worship.
In that you will have our support.
But selective secularism and selective talk of communal harmony will make you like every other fake politician before you. And we will resist it. Fully. Everytime.

I have personally witnessed linguistic favoritism in IT MNCs , where some Telugu, Tamil, Malayali, Hindi and Bengali-speaking managers favour candidates from their own language groups. Once they gain influence, they try to bring more people from their own linguistic backgrounds into their teams.
I worked for a US-based company where initially Malayali groups had strong influence in management. There was an ultra-deshbhakt Kannadiga manager who hardly ever spoke Kannada.
A few days ago, someone from the company told me that the same manager has now started speaking Kannada after reportedly being sidelined by Telugu influence in management.
My appeal to Kannadigas: Come out of this blind ultra-deshbhakti. Respecting your Kannada identity, language and people is not against the nation.
Don't wait until you are sidelined to realise the importance of your own language and identity. Stand up for Kannada and fair opportunities for Kannadigas.
