Sharing this information in case people did not know as I’m dealing with it myself right now Morphine based medications, oxycodone is another one, releases histamine as a byproduct of metabolizing the medication in your system.

If you are sensitive to histamine then it can make you itch but it doesn’t necessarily mean you are allergic. Always call your prescriber if you aren’t sure but Benadryl & ice packs help lower the itching

I’ll never forget when I got morphine in my epidural…I itched head to toe for 24 straight hours & then it was gone as fast as it came. Helps with the pain but whew, that itching is something intense

Just got home. Surgery went well. Already have a popsicle in hand & laying down. She said there were more tonsil stones in there…she removed them all not even a month ago. I’m so glad we removed them!
