NEW An Inspector Calls 23-lesson scheme for 2026 - the old one was from 2022 (!) and it was a bit outdated so I've re-done it and now it looks like all my others :) I've put it in my google drive & popped a link here - hope it helps someone! drive.google.com/drive/folde…

Mind the gap!
• Performance gaps between disadvantaged pupils and their better-off peers have widened considerably since 2019.
• Some areas still see disadvantaged pupils doing well – particularly where a greater proportion of children are disadvantaged.
• In areas where disadvantaged pupils do well, schools tend to perform better overall.
•Pupils in London outperform those in the rest of the country and this gap too has grown since 2019.

Whilst writing my lessons into my new planner isn’t actually achieving anything, it strangely makes me feel less panicked…(filling a short nap time!)

What background reading has most illuminated your teaching of Oliver Twist?
Shapiro's '1606: Year of Lear' illuminated Macbeth in a different way for me - what's the equivalent for Dickens & Oliver Twist?
After today, I only have 6 weeks left of working part time on my phased return post mat leave. How sad 😢

Here’s a scaffolded ‘A Christmas Carol’ intervention booklet for students who struggle with single word analysis. It’s based on @Xris32’s ‘words, words, words’ idea and ‘what does a writer want/need’ blog. Use/chuck/change as you see fit! dropbox.com/s/dbbgv3dnfznzzy… @Team_English1
