Leaders experience emotional distress when they can’t help with staffing and work overload. So focus also on giving staff voice, justice and fairness, better conditions, self rostering, improving teamwork, better supervision meetings and education and training. That helps.
And you Ellie! It’s a good tool, but it’s the team which makes it great❤️

It wasn’t until my later leadership years I recognised the importance of supporting #OurNHSPeople during #Ramadan
As a manager consider:
⏱Flexible start/finish time
🛐Additional spaces to pray/rest
📺Shorter more regular breaks
📖Hosting team education sessions
Any other tips?

Reflections of an SLT following @jivdercalyon:
🔹Different MDT members in different countries managing dysphagia ?same outcomes
🔹Scoping without an SLT present to assess the upper airway ?are things being missed?

When asked to review care plans, I regularly change “challenging behaviour” to “behaviour that presents as challenging to staff”
“Challenging behaviour” is often a persons way of expressing themselves. It’s not challenging to them, but to those caring for them.

A wonderful day yesterday, CBE ceremony at Windsor Castle. A glittering event and a huge privilege for me. An award recognising that the NHS is the people who each and every day are courageous, compassionate and endlessly inspiring. 🙏❤️

Why we need to spend so much time in the early days of a change initiative getting people on board & building shared purpose. We want people to be "investors" at the start of the change, not "buying in" down the road. We'll save ourselves so much effort later on. Graphic: @tnvora
