Life without veal stock, pork fat, sausage, organ meat, demi-glace, or even stinky cheese is a life not worth living. - Anthony Bourdain

Sometimes the simplest pizzas are the best way to appreciate what a pizzeria does well. At Pizzeria Da Marco in Bethesda, we went with two Neapolitan classics: Margherita — tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, basil, & parmesan Marinara — tomato sauce, fresh oregano, garlic, & ba…

Oyster Oyster’s menus have always been closely tied to the rhythms of the Mid-Atlantic, and Chef Rob Rubba’s new Harvest menu captures that moment when the last traces of summer give way to the deeper flavors of fall. The evening began with: Welcoming Broth — mushroom, kelp, …

At Bully, Chef Pepe Moncayo brings a distinctly Spanish point of view to the St. Gregory Hotel. The Barcelona-born chef, formerly of the Michelin-starred Cranes, draws on the flavors of Spain while leaving room for creative American influences throughout the menu. For dinner, w…

The Bible was written by god?
Replying to @tomcolicchio
People like Tom Colicchio keep on wanting to bypass God's word which is the Bible. Instead he pushes some kind of faith where the truth of God's word changes or must be reinterpreted.

Perhaps the worst part of the handling of the shutting down of DCist was making all of the past stories inaccessible. What a blow to local news, history, and especially the writers to have all their work destroyed

YES: “No archives means an increased ability to rewrite history, one of the biggest threats to democracy,” says a @1a listener about digital news archives being nuked. They get it. Does @wamu885?

It's time to s**t or get off the pot, @wamu885: Either you guys make @dcist's extensive story archive public and accessible forever more, or you donate it to someone who will.

Recall that the last time @dcist was shut down, back in 2017, its billionaire owner briefly nuked the site's archives. But even then he relented and put them back up. @wamu885 really doesn't want to be worse than an angry billionaire, does it?

Selfishly, I have literally thousands of @dcist stories that I may never again have access to. While I can personally suck it up, it's unfair to the public for @wamu885 to essentially kill off years worth of stories by so many other reporters. It's digital arson.

UNREAL. The folks at @1a, which is produced by @wamu885, say they asked the station's leaders if they would work to retain @dcist's extensive story archive, which dates back years. They... got no response. "If a digital archive disappears... that is a true loss," says @kellymcb.
