I am just devastated to hear of the passing of Brooke Eby @limpbroozkit. Brooke was an amazing warrior with an attitude so positive it could melt a glacier. All of my thoughts are with her Ohana at this time. May the One who brings Peace bring Peace to All. ❤️

🚨🇬🇧 No one is saying Danny Tommo intended to hurt anyone in his Channel escapade.
At sea, that isn't the test. The test is what a competent seaman would do. He failed it four times in one afternoon.
You don't crowd a rescue. Unless the coastguard asks for you, you stand off. Rescue is the most dangerous moment for an overloaded dinghy. People panic, surge to one side, and boats break up. Tommo drove a speedboat into a live rescue and picked out the dinghy with the most people on it.
You don't take a knife to an inflatable with someone on it. When a tube goes soft, the boat loses its shape and its buoyancy fast. The rescuer was standing between two hulls. Go in the water there and you face a crush risk as well as the cold. That's basic seamanship.
You don't leave wreckage behind. A half-sunk dinghy full of lifejackets can look like casualties to a helicopter or a passing ship. False alarms and mistaken identity cost lives in the Channel. In 2021, rescuers found the wrong boat, the search for the sinking one appears to have stopped, and at least 27 people died.
These waters have already shown what happens when small boats go unseen. In 2006, three men died off the Isle of Wight when a ferry ran down their yacht. It never showed up on the ship's radar. The bridge didn't see it until it was too late. Small boats are close to invisible to big ships. Everyone who goes out there in one owes it to themselves, and to the rescuers who'd have to come for them, to act like it.
And the oldest rule at sea: you help people in distress. Whoever they are, however they got there. Tommo's words on the livestream were "we're going to take the one with the most on." He wasn't going out to help. He was going out to find out where they'd land.
Then he told the rescuer, "Get off the boat, you've got time." While cutting it.
You don't tell a man he's got time unless you know he's in danger. He knew. He cut it anyway.
Not malicious. Just dangerously ignorant, and reckless with other people's lives. On the water, that's worse.

“We are as good as our coaches” says USTA Coaching.
It’s about time 🇬🇧 @the_lta 🏴 @tennisscotland prioritised investment in its coaching workforce and its clubs. They are the lifeblood of our sport.
Too much ££ and time being wasted on projects that bear little fruit.
"Coaches are absolutely critical to the growth of our sport,” Kovacs said in a quote for USA TODAY Sports via USTA Coaching. “They impact players at every level, from introducing someone to the game to helping an elite player reach their potential.“ usatoday.com/story/sports/te… @usta

It was always a mistake to assume the courts alone would get the job done. It needed a robust activation plan alongside the resurfacing program. Big error from tennis governing bodies.

Jason Arday has become academia's David Kelly. What happened to Caroline Flack seems to resonate too. What total tragedy, lack of safeguarding and error after error and what personal persecution too, there were issues here but the cruelty in the press was beyond belief.

Where’s the next generation of Scottish players coming from when @tennisscotland chooses to close its only training centre for the summer holidays (8 weeks)? And offers no funding for kids in national or international competitions. Yet there are 4 full time performance staff. 🤷♀️

The joke isn't the bin. The joke is pretending the man inside it is some random eccentric. Jonathan David Harvey is an Oxford-educated writer with three decades at the heart of the BBC comedy establishment, writing for programmes such as The Thick of It, Have I Got News For You and Yes Minister. He's won awards, been celebrated by the media, and is hardly an unknown outsider.
So let's stop pretending Count Binface is just a bloke who wandered into politics wearing a wheelie bin.
The costume is the gimmick. The career behind it is anything but.

Something that might have slipped under your radar. Sir Gareth Southgate turned down any sort of media work and punditry during the World Cup to ensure that there were no distractions or ‘media troublemaking’ for Thomas Tuchel and the England team throughout the tournament. He put the team’s interests above his own, which is what we’ve all come to expect from this thoroughly decent human being.
However far we now go in the USA, never forget who laid the foundations - someone who even after his exit is doing all that he can to help.
People versus the establishment?
Are you kidding?
Nigel Farage is the son of a stockbroker who went to Dulwich College and then follows his dad into the city, gets gifted millions, promotes crypto and gold bullion, been in politics for decades - he IS the establishment

Ian Wright is an absolute hero for saying how we all feel about this World Cup…
“I've just read that the Somalian referee has been denied entry. Every few hours it's another story, another story about fans denied, players denied, officials denied, journalists denied, now refs," Wright said.
"You know something I'm laughing but it's not funny, it's actually not funny and something has to be said.
"The expensive tickets, the most expensive tickets ever, expensive accommodation, transport through the roof. It has to be said.
"Is this how the hosts behave really for the greatest game, the greatest tournament in the world, is this how the hosts behave?
"Are we not hearing more? Are we seeing how Qatar got dragged, are we not hearing more? Is this the spirit of football, really?
"You know who I feel for? I feel for the American fans who are desperate for this, American soccer fans who are desperate for this, how embarrassed they must be. How embarrassing for them this must be.
"This is the World Cup, this is a World Cup of chaos. Whoever wins this World Cup is going to have to go through some serious chaos to get this done.
"I hope we can do it, but something has to be said now. This is the World Cup."
