Arsenal's appeal against Max Dowman's red card against Fleetwood Town has been dismissed. Arsenal argued that the red card was a case of both wrongful dismissal and excessive punishment. Dowman will be suspended for the next three games.

Mikel Arteta has just said Noni Madueke has an ankle injury & Riccardo Calafiori + Declan Rice were unavailable for Arsenal at Fleetwood due to issues sustained vs Everton.

Mikel Arteta reflects on going out to Fleetwood: “Well, first of all, congratulate Fleetwood for going through to the next round in the manner that they’ve done it. They almost feel they have created and yeah, a really sad day for us. “I cannot fault at all the attitude of the players. I haven’t seen anybody not doing what is required at this level. But we insisted so much, we had so much of the ball, so many chances, so many shots. And if you want the margins to be bigger than going to penalties, obviously you need to capitalise on that. And we didn’t, and football is about that.”
