The blackspot by-election
While candidates resorted to divisive gesture politics during the Holborn and St Pancras by-election, they ignored a real issue: phone signal in the constituency is awful.
Data from our app shows that 35% of the constituency has poor connectivity and 17% is a complete black spot.
It’s disappointing that such an important issue to the residents, and all those who visit the constituency every day, has been ignored during the campaign.

🚨The Buffering Britain app is out now on Android.
📳 From today you can run speed tests, track your journeys, and put your data on the map no matter what phone you use.
Get it in the Google Play Store at the link below. 👇
Good piece in The Times today on why arcane planning rules are holding back London’s connectivity, which I was delighted to provide a quote for. Buffering Britain’s app, developed by @Jack_Nostalgic, also features. The momentum continues!

Join us and @lfg_uk next Saturday for a massive game of hide and seek in central London to find out just how bad phone signal is!

It’s fantastic to see the data from our app in the Mail today.
We’ve spent lots of time getting this just right, building a powerful tool to hold politicians to account for the state of our mobile network.
Proud to have been part of making this happen.
When we launched our app last month, Ofcom said we were wrong about their data, and doubled down on their claim that 96% of Brits have 4G good coverage.
Since then, thousands of you have downloaded the app, running over 25,000 signal tests. These tests show that real world connectivity is much worse than Ofcom suggests, with 1-in-5 struggling to make calls, and 2-in-5 struggle to stream content.
That data features in today’s Mail on Sunday, with a useful interactive map. You can see that map in more detail in our app or on our website.
Keep submitting tests in the app - we’re building an evidence base the government can’t ignore!
“When the data and the anecdotes disagree, the anecdotes are usually right. There’s something wrong with the way that you are measuring [the data].”

We’re in the FT today pushing for better phone signal.
The long-read calls out Britain’s dismal and worsening connectivity - and sets out just how easy it is to fix it: well-targeted planning reforms.
Mobile signal wasn’t getting anywhere near this much air time before we started Buffering Britain just a few months ago.
Thank you to everyone for your support - this is how we raise pressure on the government to fix this.
Genuinely horrendous. Couldn’t do the work I wanted at all. This is the train line connecting two parts of the ‘golden triangle’. How is it this bad?? And Ofcom says most of us have good phone signal… Who are they kidding?
I’m taking the train from London to Cambridge tonight. Testing the mobile signal during the journey using the @BufferingBrit app. King’s Cross always delivers…

🥇Time for a bit of competition…
Leaderboards have landed in the Buffering Britain app.
Opt-in and compare black spots and suffer points with friends.
So what are you waiting for? Download our app and help us fix Britain’s phone network 📱
Dreadful. To think this would be some visitors first experience of Britain. Important train lines like this need functioning mobile signal throughout
I’m on the train from King’s Cross to Luton Airport Parkway. Let’s see how good the signal is using the @BufferingBrit app. Not off to a good start…
