Horrendous. Also no quote from Jimmy in this, which is a pretty good indication of how he’s taken the decision.
Lancashire Cricket can confirm that, following a remarkable 25-year association with the Red Rose, Sir James Anderson’s playing career with the Club will come to an end at the conclusion of his current contract. Read more: cricket.lancashirecricket.co… 🌹 #RedRoseTogether

Exc: Major outsourcers have seen 22 prison escapes in the last four years, after being awarded a combine £1.2bn contract to manage prisoner transport. The firms can only be deducted £25,000 per escape, according to their contracts. More in the current Private Eye.

This is a crazy story. At its core sits a bag. A bag of cash rubles. And how a Kremlin payment firm takes that cash, counts it, and then smuggles its value out of the country - through Kyrgyzstan, and then onto Chinese banks. To the tune of $14bn USD icij.org/news/2026/10/kremli…

Lindsay Hoyle complaining about Ministers briefing media/doing interviews prior to appearing in front of the House is silly in my view. Markets react massively to policy news, and announcing outside of trading hours and getting a clear picture of what the policy is matters.

The last big, market-moving policy announcement I remember being genuinely announced in the Commons was Liz Truss' mini-budget. The substance of it didn't help, but a big part of the problems following it was reactive trading based on it.

Obviously it's not ideal, but given the UK's economic picture decisions need to be made. Having policy be 'soft launched' is annoying in many ways but also clarifies a lot. Especially given generally poor standard of scrutiny in the Commons and the attitude around it.

Good to see the case progressing on a story I published a while ago. I had a long discussion with an editor about how many jobs could we say for sure he was doing at once. Happy to clarify that at his peak, he was working five at once. inews.co.uk/news/politics/ci…

Revell was only 30 when she died - blood tests had revealed low potassium but she was never told this or given any treatment. Her GP couldn't explain why this worrying result was never flagged. Read the full story: theexchange.news/tpp-systmon…

We asked TPP if their medical records software was responsible for Jade Revell's death. They were emphatic: "There was no defect in the SystmOne software." Which was very strange, because at the time they *did* acknowledge an issue...

Jade Revell was just 30 when she died, on Christmas Day 2021. Two months before, she had had blood tests, which revealed a big issue: her potassium was dangerously low. But she was never warned of this, and no action was taken. After the inquest, the coroner sent a "prevention of future deaths" report to the company running the GP practice's medical records software: TPP, Leeds' biggest tech company. Were they responsible for Revell's death? theexchange.news/tpp-systmon…

In case you missed my investigation into TPP in the Exchange yesterday:
“An absolute nightmare... we are banging our heads against a brick wall. We’re trying hard to get some changes done because we are concerned about safety.” Why was Lindsay Crockett, a prison GP, so concerned about SystmOne? theexchange.news/tpp-systmon…

TPP is Leeds' biggest tech company, providing digital health records for thousands of GP practices and the prison estate. So why did we find its flagship product, SystmOne, repeatedly cropping up in inquests? theexchange.news/tpp-systmon…
