After what has seemed like both a long time and no time at all, I’m now a board certified surgical intensivist. So that’s pretty neat! Thanks to @GWSurgery @GW_CCM and all my mentors along the way for the never ending support/encouragement/guidance along the way.

Hard agree. I wonder if @rbarbosa91 could do refresher on this skill??
I don’t care what anyone says, the blind subclavian central line is a very powerful one—especially in trauma. It’s becoming a lost art in the era of ultrasound, be we should never let it die.

Trivia of the day: The Coudé catheter was not named after a person..."Coudé" is just a French word that means 'bent', and technically you could use it for any other device that has an angle to it if you really wanted...🤔

🧵regarding the 'Fish' -- officially known as the Glassman viscera retainer. The Fish is an occasionally used surgical tool that is used in abdominal operations during closure of the fascia to cover the bowel, protecting it from being accidentally stuck with the needle. (1/ )

This is the exact convo @stephaniestreit and I had in the ICU earlier this year! Electrolytes are replenished until they are replete.
I, a PGY7 surgical resident about to graduate in 3 days AND an avid practitioner of grammar policing, was just informed that “replete” is an adjective and not a verb. I am shook.

“Tell the Court I love my wife” - Richard Loving In 1958, the Lovings married in DC and returned home to VA, which was considered a crime. In 2023, thanks to their case, I was able to marry my wife @CzestochowaF in DC and return to VA. #lovingday #EqualProtection4All
