Tonight, the American people sent a clear message — they want a politics that brings people together rather than divides them, and leaders who offer concrete solutions to the challenges they face.
These results were only possible because outstanding candidates stepped forward in every region of the country — including in areas once considered long shots. They came from different backgrounds and represented a range of political perspectives, but were united by shared values, a belief in public service, and a commitment to putting the people of their districts and states first.
We also owe a debt of gratitude to the thousands of election officials and volunteers from both parties who helped ensure a smooth election and carried out one of the most essential functions of our democracy.
While this administration has another two years in office, our job now is to roll up our sleeves, make changes wherever we have the power to do so, prevent further damage, and lay the groundwork for the future.

Chania’s Old Town, Crete
Chania is one of Crete's most appealing destinations, combining a historic harbour, atmospheric streets and a lively modern city. Its Old Town is a wonderful place to explore on foot, with Venetian architecture and traces of different historical periods around almost every corner.
The harbour is the obvious starting point, but the surrounding neighbourhoods deserve just as much attention.
During your visit, make time for:
• Walking around the Venetian Harbour.
• Seeing the historic lighthouse.
• Exploring the narrow streets of the Old Town.
• Visiting the neighbourhood of Splantzia.
• Browsing small shops and local markets.
• Enjoying Cretan food at a traditional taverna.
The harbour looks different throughout the day. In the morning, it is a lovely place for a coffee and a relaxed walk. By evening, the waterfront becomes livelier, with restaurants filling up and lights reflecting across the water.
Step away from the harbour and you'll discover another side of Chania. Narrow streets lead into small squares, past old houses and through neighbourhoods where everyday life continues alongside the city's tourist attractions.
Food is an important part of the experience. Look out for Cretan cheeses, local olive oil, fresh seafood and seasonal dishes that showcase the island's agricultural traditions.
Chania also makes a useful base for exploring western Crete, with beaches, mountain landscapes and traditional villages within reach.
Still, don't make the mistake of treating the city simply as somewhere to sleep between excursions. Allow time to enjoy Chania itself.
A slow morning, an afternoon wandering the Old Town and an evening beside the harbour can be every bit as memorable as a trip to one of Crete's famous beaches.
