Here’s another retired MLB hitter who teaches kids to hit down through the ball.
Matt Kemp could really hit!
He hit (.284) with (287) homers and a career (.821) OPS over his 15 year @MLB career.
Maybe @shegone03 knows what he’s talking about after all huh?

The year the Angels finally beat Boston is right here, and they did it with a sweep, after the Red Sox had eliminated them in 2004, 2007 and 2008.
Three straight first round losses to the same club will make a fourth meeting feel like something other than baseball, and this one broke the other way in three games. The season is impossible to talk about without Nick Adenhart.
He threw six shutout innings in his season debut in April and was killed by a drunk driver hours later, at 22 years old.
The team hung his jersey in the dugout the rest of the way, and every conversation I have ever had about this roster gets there within a minute or two.
The card cannot carry any of that, which is part of why I keep making them anyway. New York won the ALCS in six and then the World Series. It was also Vladimir Guerrero's last season in an Angels uniform.
Some cards are harder to build than others.

We live in an era where guys are okay with losing as long as the camera man got that flick for them. I had teammates that hated to lose more than they liked to win. Guys focused on In-N-Out and what the next caption is going to be more than being focused on their job.

Long Beach State Football in Belmont Shores would be an absolute piece of art. 🏟️🌊 A packed stadium right on the water, overlooking Alamitos Bay with the marina and a Southern California sunset as the backdrop.

Well well well… I guess real baseball matters again… and it wins. Don’t strike out. Get the ball in play. Hustle, steal bases, throw strikes, compete. Yea, bombs are good… but so are doubles, singles, bunt for hits, moving runners … pressure on defense. Why has it taken this long to figure it out! That’s what pisses me off. Winning Baseball ….. well it wins! At every level.

If everyone's a select, nobody's a select.
Parents inability to say no + rose-colored glasses = easy money for many.
Do what Gretzky said. Put the gear away when the (traditional) season is over and play other shit.
Also, the cream rises to the top. If your kid has D1/pro potential, they'll find him without you having to rack up Days Inn points.
‘Travel sports,’ a term that has come to encompass all sorts of private teams, leagues, and clubs, used to be for the truly exceptional young athlete. Now, they’re for anyone willing to pay — an expensive, exhausting commitment that has become popular not necessarily because millions of parents want them for their children but because it can feel like there’s no other choice. Rec programs are underfunded and struggle to compete with for-profit leagues for prime field, rink, and court times. And the level of play is diluted, often very early, as travel teams are incentivized to enroll children at young ages.
Around 5 million children in the U.S. now compete on travel teams. Parents find themselves trapped. They know the benefits of sports and want that for their children, yet giving it to them often means buying into a sports ecosystem that’s inherently flawed. As the pay-to-play model increasingly takes hold, so does the idea that kids should start competing at younger and younger ages, risking their sense of self along with their shoulders and ACLs.
“I never want my kids to look back and say I didn’t do everything I could to help them live their dreams,” a mother of three soccer players said. She’s hired professional photographers to take action shots for her 12- and 13-year-olds’ Instagram accounts — the platform has become a recruiting tool — and they’ve both asked her to pay for personal trainers.
“I think the word isn’t ‘specialize’; you are ‘professionalizing’ your kid early. You are exposing them to everything professionals have to deal with — I’m talking injury, time, schedule, everything,” said John Van Benschoten, a former MLB player and travel-baseball coach.
It makes one ask: All this for what? And for whom? Read Caitlin Moscatello’s cover story on how travel leagues have made youth sports more expensive, hypercompetitive, and all-consuming — and the investors who are making a killing: nymag.visitlink.me/1-gbZQ

For you guys not following this situation
The Dodgers negotiated an unfair TV contract deal, then their owner got his insurance and annuity companies to give loans to him so he could afford massive spending.
He did things like buy Chelsea, the Lakers and spend massively on the Dodgers by doing illegal loans and arms length transactions that aren’t allowed with insurance rules
He has to sell EVERYTHING he can to cover the loans or he could face criminal prosecution. There will be a liquidation, selling the Lakers and his stake in Chelsea will not be enough
The Dodgers “dynasty” is built on financial cheating, enabled by a 1 of 1 TV Deal they got through a loophole in the McCourt Bankruptcy and improper transactions with life insurance and annuity companies Guggenheim owns
We do not need a salary cap
Mark walter WILL have to sell the Dodgers and once the TV rights situation is fixed they will never be able to spend like this again
The Dodgers rings mean even less than the Astros
