None of my business as an Ontario voter, but I'd suggest the people running the @bcndp deep soul search about why 275,206 people who voted for them in 2024 didn't vote for them on Saturday, October 24. The @Conservative_BC party didn't 'win' the election; the @bcndp and @Dave_Eby lost it and, going forward, it would helpful if they figured out why. The reasons why the @bcndp lost might help the federal @NDP and @avilewis plan for the next federal election.

The BC election was a dismal display of democracy, to be sure. Very low turnout. The winner was decided by who lost the least number of votes since 2024. 275,206 2024 NDP voters told @Dave_Eby 'screw you' and stayed home. As for the Conservatives, only 50,577 of their 2024 voters told them to bugger off. And the @BCGreens? 23,062 more voters went for them than they did in 2024. The Greens improved their standing with voters since 2024, while both the NDP and Conservatives lost standing.

Just wondering if it's wrong of me to assume that if someone has an Israeli flag 🇮🇱 in their X signature that they are in favor of killing Palestinians.

Israel's elections are being held on Tuesday the 27th of October. It seems that no matter who forms government, they will work hard to accelerate the genocide of Palestinians.

I'm not at all well-informed about BC provincial politics, but my impression is that today's latest version of the BC Conservatives is that it is, essentially, the old Christy Clark Liberal Party of British Columbia. Set me straight, anyone.

So, that's the Alberta referendum vote done, and now the BC election is wrapped; so today--Sunday, Oct 25 2026--we have the runoff election in Brazil, expect results soon after 4:00PM 'Ontario' time.

I understand that the majority of Canadians approve of Prime Minister @MarkJCarney, notwithstanding how bad Carney's policies are and how he repeatedly fails to keep his promises and commitments. Perhaps the evidence that will come out in this court case will convince a few Canadians who now "approve" of Carney just how bad Carney is for most Canadians. thestar.com/opinion/star-col…

And yet Carney is letting it happen. He has the power and responsibility to enforce the Canada Health Act when premiers attack public healthcare The buck stops with Carney, and he's teaming up with Conservatives to kill healthcare in Canada
Conservatives: Canada is poorly run. Housing and healthcare are terrible. Also conservatives:

I'm expecting (and hope I'm wrong) that Prime Minister @MarkJCarney will again cave to President @realDonaldTrump, abandon Canada's decades-long objection to the US/Cuba embargo, and either abstain or vote against "The United Nations ... vote next week on a motion Cuba has put forward nearly every year since 1992. It calls for the termination of 'the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the United States of America against Cuba.'" @MarkJCarney is proving to be the weakest, most politically cowardly, and morally bereft Prime Minister in Canadian history. For Cuba and Canadian's sake I sure hope my low opinion of Carney proves to be unfounded. ctvnews.ca/canada/article/cu…

I doubt, very much, that I will ever knowingly buy anything--good, product, or service--from a company or person that has any connection to @elonmusk.

I'm profoundly disappointed in Prime Minister @MarkJCarney that he has chosen to tolerate and even dismiss the United States' Ambassador @petehoekstra's constant lying about Canada interfering in the United States mid-term elections. It eludes me why Carney has not taken any measures to protect Canadian dignity and sovereignty and deemed Hoekstra persona non grata pursuant to Article 9 of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. In Carney's Canada, it's acceptable, it seems, for diplomats to lie about Canada. Blatant disrespect of Canada and Canadians, it seems, is OK with Carney. There is an e-petition available to Canadians, E-7531, callling for the Government of Canada to formally declare Pete Hoekstra persona non grata and request his removal as U.S. Ambassador to Canada. It's sponsored by @ElizabethMay. Given Prime Minister @MarkJCarney hasn't the personal courage to demand the United States and its diplomatic mission afford Canada and Canadians fundamental respect. Perhaps Canadians by signing the petition can demand that Carney stand up for Canadians rather than groveling. ourcommons.ca/petitions/en/P…,

Across the whole issue spectrum, @MarkJCarney is falling for short of delivering on any of what he's convinced Canadians he's promising them. Carney's mostly flimflam. edmontonjournal.com/opinion/…

Acolytes of @MarkJCarney often refer to his PhD in economics. One, I recall, said he was "brilliant economist." He's not. Earning a PhD in economics is certainly a commendable achievement. No question. But Carney is not a renowned economist. Indeed as best as I can tell there's not been a single research paper that has ever cited Carney's dissertation Carney, Mark J. (1995). The Dynamic Advantage of Competition. DPhil thesis, University of Oxford, Nuffield College. One day, perhaps, Carney might win a Nobel Prize, but it won't be in economics.

I am not sure that PM Carney has ever put human rights before business. In June, he eliminated a watchdog that oversaw the conduct of Canadian companies abroad, claiming it was ineffectual. In reality, it was *made* ineffectual by the government: cbc.ca/news/politics/carney-… #cdnpoli
Q: At what point is raising human rights issues enough, and does that just give you carte blanche to do business however you want? Mark Carney: If you're not speaking to people, you have no ability to actually raise these issues.

Listen bro just say you don't care about human rights and that making money and buying and selling weapons is a bigger priority for you, be honest!
Mark Carney defends engaging with Turkey despite its record on LGBTQ rights: "Engagement is not approval. There are very few countries in this world that have the standards of Canada, the rights of Canada, the conviction of Canada."
