Reading is a relationship. It doesn鈥檛 start with an initiative, log, or packet. It starts with a consistent connection to books.

A3: We know teachers are the most important factor in student learning. The danger of blended learning is that it can eat away at teacher authenticity. Building your own instructional videos ensures the content feels personal and allows for unlimited flexibility. #EdutopiaChat

Schools with a healthy culture don鈥檛 avoid conflict; they embrace it. Productive conflict: I鈥檓 confident I鈥檓 right, but I know I don鈥檛 have a monopoly on correctness. I鈥檓 happy to hear your viewpoint. Destructive conflict: I鈥檓 right & I鈥檓 not interested in hearing your opinion.

A3: We have to show students how to preview books to determine if they are a good match. Sending them off to read "whatever they want" is not the most beneficial to build their reading toolbox. #HCPSRead

A2: Book talks and passes foster engagement and effort. Ss want to talk to peers so why not talk about books? I would like to set up a book talk with my mentor group next year. These are Ss that I, personally, have a connection with so let's bring reading into it. #HCPSRead

This is a great idea and students will want to get caught in order to have their picture on display! #hcpsread
A4) I was thinking next year making a sneaky reading board in the hallway for my team. We would take pictures of students who were sneaky reading. #hcpsread
