Understanding & influencing courageous behaviour is an important part of leading change. If we don't feel courage, we won't try new things. @BillTreasurer helpfully describes "three buckets of courage": 1) TRY courage is the courage of first attempts, being wiling to experiment & try new things. 2) TRUST courage is about letting go of formulas that worked in the past, our preconceptions about how things should be & our need to control. 3) TELL courage is where people feel safe to express themselves authentically & fully. It's our role as leaders to actively nurture the three courage buckets to create an environment where confidence & psychological safety prevail over fear. Overthinking is a risk for leaders. It involves thinking about a decision or topic excessively, reading all kinds of possibilities into the situation. Actions we can take to reduce overthinking: 1) Pay attention to the way we think. 2) Have some perspective. 3) Focus on the things we can change. 4) Get a good start every day. 5) Schedule some time for reflection. 6) Practice mindfulness. 7) Stop being a perfectionist. 8) Recognise we can't control everything. indeed.com/career-advice/car… By @indeed. Why NEWS2 scores are not enough to spot a deteriorating patient: Early warning scores give nurses a vital insight into a patient's condition, but baseline measurements and clinical judgement are crucial to detecting deterioration. rcni.com/nursing-standard/op…

Genuine leaders can make really difficult decisions everyday & still be deeply respected by everyone. They are open & honest & what you see is what you get. Machiavellian leaders aren’t trusted as most people can see their game a mile off. Lacking in self awareness they can’t see
