Pakistan have won a fabulous tri-series, just at the right time, with the ICC set to release the next FTP next month.
Had this been a three-match ODI series against England, followed by another three against Sri Lanka, nobody would have cared about it to this extent.
Boards across the world should take a lesson from this series. Their greed for bilateral revenue and reluctance to risk losing crowds/revenue from neutral matches have kept them from scheduling tri-series for over a decade.
What they failed to realise is that tri-series give every match greater context and can even get home fans invested in a game involving two visiting teams.
Tri-series are the only way to bring context back to international cricket and save the ODI format outside ICC events.
