Our team are working to enhance AI models to recognise frog calls, along with the bird species, recorded by wetland acoustic recorders. This will be used to better understand the response of these species to environmental water delivery. @theCEWH @FlowMERprogram @CSUMedia

PhD students Karma and Angus joined the electrofishing surveys conducted under the FlowMER Program in the Lower and mid-Murrumbidgee systems this month. Results will be analyzed to look at fish response to environmental water delivery in these systems. @FlowMERprogram @theCEWH

A total of 1,244 tadpoles were recorded at Murrundi Swamp during the November 2025 wetland monitoring trip. This included 216 Southern bell frog tadpoles. Hopefully we see them all hopping around during the repeat February frog surveys! @theCEWH @FlowMERprogram @CSUMedia

Wetland monitoring has kicked off for 2025-26. Highlights include three large Broad-shelled turtles at Bayil Creek on Gayini Nimmie-Caira and 1244 tadpoles counted in the nets at Murrundi. Great to work with local Mutthi Mutthi mob and Gayini rangers. @FlowMERprogram @CSUMedia

Enthusiastic school groups and community gathered for the Great Southern BioBlitz at Fivebough Wetlands to learn the use of biodiversity app iNaturalist and observe bird and frog activity at the biodiversity hotspot @FlowMERprogram @CharlesSturtUni

An Olive perchlet was found during electrofishing surveys in the Yanco Creek. This coming field season we hope to learn where they have come from, what sort of population is there and how we can use environmental water to best support their requirements in this creek system.
