This is what made the 2K games special There is a lot of functionality that a lot of football games would ignore A lot of smart people over rationalize and over simplify “realism” They boil Football down to the basics - tackle, catching, passing, etc As you’ll see in this play, there are two things that most development teams would deprioritize and make secondary over getting in other features and systems 1) tipped the ball physics - as you’ll see here the past was tipped multiple times before it was intercepted by nearby player 2) second order and third order tackling - the ball carrier gets hit, but doesn’t immediately go down. He bounces off of one player and then a second one and then is dragged down by the third contact That kind of extra “nuance” helped the game feel more dynamic and real. It keeps things interesting. That kind of “realism” can make a game fun 🤷🏾‍♂️
