John Harbaugh is an expert with kickers. He knows the position better than any head coach in football. He literally had two kickers in his 19 seasons at Baltimore who are both borderline Hall of Famers (Stover and Tucker).
Dominic Zvada is going to be an elite NFL kicker for many years. The Giants know what they have in him, he’s a rare talent. There are going to be some bumps along the way but missing 57, 56, and 50 yarders is 100% excusable for a rookie.
Only thing I would change is stop putting him out there for 55+ yd FG’s unless it is end of game of or end of half situation for the time being. He needs to keep building his confidence and missing from any distance dents that along with the media scrutiny.
I am a huge fan of this young man. We cannot make the mistake of letting him out the building like we did with future Hall of Famer Chris Boswell PIT in 2015.
Patience is required. Go Big Blue!

Estimated Cost: 2027 3rd rounder
SHORT TERM
Immediate upgrade to both the pass rush and run defense, giving the front another DJ Reader-caliber impact guy, if not even more
LONG TERM
A free agent after the 2026 season, Buckner will require a hefty contract to keep around for 2027 and beyond.
BIG PICTURE
NYG would march into the 2027 Draft without 3rd, 4th, and 5th round picks which is massive gap between selections even if they get a fourth round compensatory selection as some have projected. This is a move that fills an immediate gaping need but it would be a half-season rental and further complicate the process of building a sustainable winner with depth via the draft.
Trading a 3rd is a tough sell, even for a guy like Buckner.

▪️Undrafted rookie out of Memphis who spent six years in college (also with Louisville and Massachusetts)
▪️Was never a feature back - always a rotational-type who averaged over 6 yards per carry in college. He dealt with injuries in 2024 / 2025 (collarbone and foot).
▪️He is a smaller-framed guy with 4.52 speed and average athleticism.
▪️Receiving skill set was the stand out trait he impressed with on tape and pre-draft process.
▪️Led LAC in preseason rushing for what its worth, including 118-yard game on 9 carries week three.
