Fun fact: national parks aren’t cash cows. They lose tonnes of money (but that’s okay! They aren’t businesses). Banff probably loses less, but overall non-govt revenue is barely more than ten cents on the dollar of expenses.
So, I’m not really fully moved in yet but it’s good to leave a forwarding address: @BillGiven@mstdn.ca

Oooh! I agree. A sovereignty act for municipalities is much more important than a provincial police force. We don’t need a militia but option to have access to taxes other than property taxes would be awesome.

I ask Albertans who hoped for a different result tonight to please get involved or stay involved because the only way the UCP and NDP machines are held accountable is if we continue to organize and prepare to put the Alberta Party in the Legislature in May.

Full disclosure. I was the beneficiary of the first past the post system in 4 elections, & I enjoyed being part of a majority government for four terms. Now, I am convinced that the public is better off with minority and coalition governments. (Some conditions appy.) #abpoli

The by-election in Brooks - Medicine Hat raises the issue of strategic voting, which is always about how to defeat an unwelcome candidate. Unlike a general election, in a by-election, the best candidate to bet on for a strategic victory is the strongest local candidate. #abpoli

She just isn't invested in our region and I know the people of Brooks-Medicine Hat deserve and want better. They have said it straight out - we need someone from here, who knows here. Period.

With effective firefighting efforts preventing southward spread of the Chetamon wildfire for the last 5 days and reduced fire potential due to the cooler forecast this week, extensive fire contingency measures are no longer needed.

Jasper Update: At approx. 1am on Sept. 14, we will be phasing the town off the generator system and back to the transmission system. We continue to have the temporary generation system remain in place for backup. More information can be found on bddy.me/3xnPE3o

As of 6pm yesterday, power to 90% of Jasper has been restored. The timing of rebuilding the system will depend on the conditions of the fire. We continue to work w/ the Municipality & @JasperNP. Remember to conserve energy. For more info: bddy.me/3TZ5Xxp
