This #CommunitySupportMonth, we’re taking a moment to recognize the people who make community service possible - our staff, volunteers, partners and, most importantly, the people and communities we serve. Thank you for the care, compassion and connection you bring every day. 💚
October is Community Support Month! 🎉 We’re celebrating the people & services that make care at home possible, from Meals on Wheels & transportation to respite, adult day programs and home supports. Community First means celebrating the people at the heart of this work. #CSM2026

Thank you as well to all of our exhibitors, community partners and everyone who attended and helped make the event such a success. We were glad to open the door to new relationships, partnerships and resources that can benefit seniors, caregivers and our wider community!
Some dancing was exactly what @alexangilmour and I needed to start our morning at the @tngcommunityto Seniors Information Fair! It was wonderful to see many community stakeholders and service groups come together to share important and language-specific resources for our communities’ most vulnerable. Thank you to all the organizers and volunteers at TNG who made today possible!

📍 The erosion of affordable housing is not affecting every community equally. A 2026 study found concentrated levels of tenant displacement in the lower-income and heavily racialized communities of Scarborough, North York, and Etobicoke. 👉 These findings demonstrate how the financialization of housing can deepen existing inequalities. When affordable rental homes are lost, lower-income, racialized, and immigrant tenants face a greater risk of being pushed out of their communities. 🔗 Read our latest blog to learn more about who is most affected by financialization and tenant displacement: buff.ly/yNIvq8w #FairRentOntario #FinancializationOfHousing #TenantDisplacement #HousingEquity #AffordableHousing #HousingStability @workersac @Campaign2000 @FeedOntario @UnityHealthTO @WNHHNetwork @ISAC_Ontario @OntarioACORN @ACORNCanada @TenantsUnionTO @ricardo_tranjan @ccpa _ @djnontario @TorontoTenants @nodemovictions @nyhfb

Make a difference in your community! 💙 The Teesdale Community Food Bank provides healthy, nutritious food to neighbours who need it most. As food insecurity continues to affect communities, volunteers play an important role in making sure people can access essential food.

August 31 marks International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD). It's an opportunity to mourn those we have lost, and to refocus our collective work to end overdose and tackle the toxic drug poisoning crisis. The Canadian Health Coalition joins with Friends of Medicare @FriendsMedicare and @CANdrugpolicy in calling for evidence-based drug policy. Across Alberta, at least 1,437 died of drug poisoning. Across Canada 5,630 apparent opioid toxicity deaths were reported in 2025, of which 96% were accidental in 2025. #cdnpoli #abpoli friendsofmedicare.org/ioad_e…

Dreaming Forward: 50 years of community care. As we celebrate 50 years of caring for and alongside our community, we’re looking ahead through the dreams of the people and partners who help shape our work. For Patrick Esenerwa, Case Manager with TNG Community Services and part of our East Toronto HART Hub, harm reduction is about supporting people in the ways they need to move forward — through housing, employment, connection, practical supports, and finding purpose. As an artist, he also sees the healing power of creativity. “Even creating art is a form of harm reduction.” Join us for International Overdose Awareness Day, Monday, Aug. 31, 11 a.m.–3 p.m. at Moss Park, alongside our community partners.
