I think everyone views firing coaches the wrong way. “But who ya gonna get” or “we could go 6-6” 6-6 is no different then 8-4 or 9-3 and missing the playoff. The only question you should be asking about a HC is “Can this dude win a National Title?” The answer is no.

A mature and properly experienced QB would have us undefeated so far. But, the desperate need for that in the offseason was not taken to heart. So, here we are, with two unnecessary losses, because of incompetence.

One can simultaneously recognize that Coach Josh Heupel has brought Tennessee forward to a place of consistent mediocrity AND recognize that he has already hit his ceiling. The two are not mutually exclusive. I don’t have any answers for who could replace him.

We used to blame our offensive penalties on how fast the offense moves. Now it's just obvious our offensive coaches can't instill discipline. Our defense is night and day with Jim Knowles, should be a wakeup call that elite assistants can come in and improve our team.

I’m not remiss on the undisciplined nature of our football team. Heupel’s teams have always been too undisciplined. And, I don’t know how you come out of a timeout on 4th and 1 and have a busted play. George is still a young QB, but I generally like what he’s shown.
