Oh dear. More pesky verifiable facts being used to smear Trump. It never ends – at Folkestone, England

It's almost impossible to understand the depths of depravity that are needed to produce something like this in the wake of a young man's tragic death. That it comes from a US President is despicable beyond words.

Can't imagine what the connection is...... – at Folkestone, England
Zelenskyy: "I will continue to bomb Russian Data Centers." Republicans: "Zelenskyy is attempting to interfere in the US midterms." Me: What an odd thing to say.

No mean no, Mr President. Why is that such a difficult concept for you to grasp?

Hi Trump, Greenlandic citizen here. Just so we’re clear: Greenland has some of the strictest environmental and regulatory requirements for mineral exploration and extraction. No foreign government or company can simply enter Greenland and start drilling or extracting our natural resources without the necessary approvals from Greenlandic authorities. Greenland’s natural resources are governed by Greenlandic laws, not by announcements from the President of the United States. Greenland decides. Not Washington.

I'm surprised Farage and his band were not there to welcome her. What better example of immigrant integration into British society can there be that becoming a Member of Parliament?

As it’s October 1st, a very warm welcome to ‘There Banning Poppies Season,’ an annual British tradition of manufactured culture war outrage that only serves to detract from the very important work and messaging of The Royal British Legion. So … NOBODY IS GOING TO BE OFFENDED IF YOU DECIDE TO WEAR A POPPY NOBODY HAS THE RIGHT TO BE OFFENDED IF YOU DECIDE TO NOT WEAR A POPPY THERE IS NO ‘RIGHT’ OR ‘WRONG’ WAY TO WEAR A POPPY We have this same ridiculous pantomime every year, where the memory of those who gave their lives in the fight for freedom (including freedom of expression) is tainted by people who use the poppy for political point scoring and even hateful bigotry. Every single person who posts ‘If my poppy offends you ...’ rubbish on Facebook isn’t a patriot. What the hell is ‘patriotic’ about using a symbol of remembrance to stir up hatred against people who are actually often proud to wear the poppy as well. It belongs to everyone, mainly because people of all backgrounds have sacrificed their lives in conflict, and I would bet my b******s to a barn dance that the Royal British Legion gets fed up with the annual ‘Poppygeddon’ event when so many people lose their minds over it all. So, if you are tempted to fly off the handle when you see a celebrity or a footballer without a poppy this November, please remember that they will have their reasons for doing so - it doesn’t mean that they don’t respect the millions who never came home. And finally, regarding the ‘right’ and ‘wrong’ way to wear one: ‘There is no ‘correct’ way to wear a poppy Wearing a poppy is a personal choice reflecting individual and personal memories. It’s a matter of personal choice whether someone chooses to wear a poppy and how they choose to wear it.’ ‘From paper poppies to pins, bag charms to pet poppies, the best way to wear a poppy is simply with pride.’ That’s a direct quote from the Royal British Legion by the way. They just organise the whole sodding thing, but what do they know, eh?

First EU reactions to Burnham suggestion that UK might rejoin EU: French Pdt Macron: “Welcome back” Spanish PM Sanchez: Brexit was a “huge loss” for both the UK and the EU, and if Britain takes a decision to rejoin, Spain will “open its arms” again to the British people.

This visit broke my heart. I visited an elderly man with a free food parcel he had requested. When I arrived, he asked, “Can you talk to me for five minutes, or do you have to go?” I told him I could stay. He spoke about his life, grieving his late wife and losing his only child to addiction. I stayed for an hour and listened. As I left, he said, “Thank you for listening. It’s been a long time since anyone listened to me, Tasha.” I’m sure he meant me. Either way, he went back into his home smiling. With his permission, I’ve passed his details to a befriending service. I learnt a long time ago that a food bank is about more than food. It’s about connection, being heard and being seen. I hope I made his day. I know he made mine. #foodbank

"I love the poorly educated" said Donald Trump. It's what oils the wheels of MAGA, & sadly it goes a long way to explaining the appeal of Reform & Restore in the UK. If you are well informed, curious & a critical thinker, it is highly unlikely you will ever support the nonsense of the populist right.

Let today be the last day that spiteful, mean-spirited people comment on the way Andy Burnham’s wife is dressed or the way she looks. We should be better than this.

Her physical appearance is completely irrelevant. She is not a fashion model – at Folkestone, England
Apparently this dress is by Victoria Beckham. Bit nasty of her to let Mrs Burnham pay 900 quid for something in Crimpelene that doesn't fit her. Sisterhood eh?in

I can’t tell you how angry this makes me. My d-i-l died aged 37 because she was told she was too young to get bowel cancer. If they’d sent her one of these she’d still be alive now. These are my grandchild watering the flowers on her grave. If you get one use it. 😡
This arrived today, didn’t ask for it, have no intention of using it, how much bloody money are the NHS wasting on this??? 😡
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The NHS automatically sends bowel cancer screening kits every 2 years to eligible people aged 50-74; the FIT program is cost-effective and results in net savings through early detection. nhs.uk/tests-and-trea… bmjopen.bmj.com/content/7/10/e…

Feeling so sad at the news of the death of Ed Stourton. He was a very important figure for all of us on the daily news programmes on @BBCRadio4. One of those people you're really glad to have around. All substance, minimum ego, deeply knowledgeable, totally reliable. And he was one of the nicest of colleagues as well. He'll be missed.

England will be remembered for the legendary victory against Mexico at the Azteca, and the best game of the competition against France. Spain will be remembered for winning the competition. Argentina will be remembered for being violent unsportsmanlike cheats.
