SANDF Recovers Three Vehicles Worth R2.2 Million Stolen in Gauteng Before They Could Be Smuggled Into Zimbabwe, Seizes Smuggled Cigarettes Worth R438,688 The South African National Defence Force (SANDF), through 4 Artillery Regiment, has recovered three vehicles worth a combined R2.2 million during border security operations in Musina, Limpopo, under Operation CORONA. The operations are aimed at curbing the illegal smuggling of contraband between South Africa and Zimbabwe. During day and night operations, soldiers intercepted and recovered a Toyota 2.4 GD-6 valued at R800,000, a Nissan Navara double cab worth R890,000, and a Toyota Cross valued at R510,000. All three vehicles were reported stolen in Gauteng, according to information provided by 4 Artillery Regiment. The regiment also intercepted goods suspected of being smuggled across the border, including 18 master boxes of RG cigarettes valued at R385,000 and another two master boxes valued at R53,688. Soldiers further discovered various goods along the Limpopo River banks suspected of being smuggled into the neighbouring country under the cover of darkness. 4 Artillery Regiment continues to conduct border security operations in Musina under Operation CORONA, with soldiers patrolling the border between South Africa and Zimbabwe.
