Yikes sorry for the delay!
Well y’all got it!
It was a Double-crested Cormorant.
I feel they get a unfair rap as a bit of a trash bird especially on the E coast but just look at those EYES!

If you haven't seen Hiroshige's owl print before, it is both charming and stunning.

Let this sink in: on Java - one of the world's largest islands - there are now more songbirds in cages than there are in the wild. birdlife.org/worldwide/news/…
I identify with this bird trying to figure out what to do with its hands

The Spring Challenge featured dozens of players from as far afield as Mexico, Belgium, Nepal, and Australia, and boasted plenty of drama as each squad raced to pile up the best combined list. There were major surprises along the way, including a first country record!
@BirdingMagazine, @N8Swick, @jeffgyr, I'd love to get y'all involved again and to get your help spreading the word. To sweeten the pot this time we'll be doing an @inaturalist mini-challenge alongside the main competition.
Sometimes I thank my lucky stars that we don't have Phylloscopus to worry about around here. According to eBird Green Warbler is "separable from Greenish Warbler by its greener upperparts"....
Some positive news from @docmartin2mc and his team at Aberdeen Uni last night. The DNA results on the Green Warbler came through and we’re happy to say they’ve confimed what we thought, it’s a Green Warbler! Big thank you to Martin and his team :)
Y'all need to be reading these. There are 500,000 &$*@! magnificent Cory's Shearwaters in the world, do they all deserve to be carrying around this doofus's name? birdnamesforbirds.wordpress.…
So, for #birdnamesforbirds we've investigated all manner of terrible people, but I don't think any of that prepared us for.... really cringey sports poetry by Charles Cory of Shearwater fame?

Don't knock it till you've tried it
Perhaps the MOST fun discovery from our #cameratrap surveys was made by citizen scientists themselves! Our intrepid volunteers were the first to discover that some birds like spending the nights nestled up inside giraffe ARMPITS. Read more on @NatGeo at tinyurl.com/yyhnkjyv!
