Paul Giamatti lost the Oscar for Best Actor to Cillian Murphy in 2024 & it’s a decision that still rips me apart. Murphy deserved that win for Oppenheimer & I’m never going to take away from that pick. But man…Giamatti was special in The Holdovers. Giamatti deploys every last inch of his acting repertoire in this film. It reminds me of Robin Williams in Dead Poets Society. A special performance that just narrowly missed an Oscar.
