Colleagues, I will be at @ug_lawsociety today to submit on topic 2, Freedom of Expression and Enforced Disappearances in Uganda: The case of Aloikin Praise. As law students , we should be at the forefront of defending constitutionalism and the rule of law . #ResistLawlessness

All smiles when students asked Justice Christopher Gashirabake uncomfortable questions. We belong to the Radical New Bar and we are for Vision 2060. No gulag. #RNB #vision2060

Today's Career's session @MakerereLaw gave us an opportunity to task JCA Christopher Gashirabake to espouse on the legality of judicial appointments which were recommended by the illegally constituted Judicial Service Commission which lacks the two @ug_lawsociety nominees..1/2

2/2... The Uganda Law Society is the biggest constituency and its nominees not being on the Commission raises questions on the legality of its decisions. We also asked why @ug_lawsociety appeals were removed from the appeals cause -list in what was termed as the embargo!

How do we dismantle barriers to justice in land disputes and respond to the evolving realities of commercial law? “I bring you greetings from our #RadicalNewBar President, @IsaacSsemakadde, SC, who remains unyielding in the struggle for justice despite conviction, exile, and persecution.” Our Vice President, @AsiimweAnthony2, opened the Land & Commercial Law Training in Gulu, raising critical questions about access to justice while acknowledging the support of our partners and sponsors: @IDLO, @JLOSUganda, and @NLinUganda. 📍 Acholi Inn, Gulu. #ULSAT70 #ULS_CLE

Here’s how delay is affecting @ug_lawsociety and @IsaacSsemakadde and 🇺🇬 The Baganda say, if you see a dog chasing a man carrying a mat, then you carrying a hide should not even try. If our @IsaacSsemakadde cannot be heard, then who can? Are you a victim too?

With this prized passion for @ug_lawsociety affairs. You are still a young man, how about you enrolled for law school for some good four years, have an extra one year at LDC , take a few months to enroll and ably offer this somewhat “Solomonic wisdom” to @ug_lawsociety then.

Should the state step in on ultra-processed foods? Yesterday’s Food and Law Club forum took on ultra-processed foods, additives, marketing and public health. Thanks to #AbaasaElizabeth #SsenkinduEricKateyanira and all who showed up. #KabandaDavid #CefrohtUg

If Makerere ran a data check on these pseudo-influencers, the cut-off points and pre-entry failure rates would explain the bitterness. Bambi, failing to join the Mighty Hill isn’t the end of life. Reapply, heal, and stop fighting what you failed to qualify for. Maybe one day, we will call you a colleague or associate you with a Hall of residence at the bare minimum. Pain is everywhere, LOL!😂

Greetings Natasha, I trust this finds you well. Five things! 1. Protests do not make countries failed states, On the contrary, the ability of citizens to openly protest their government is often a sign that democratic institutions are functioning. People are free to criticize leaders, organize demonstrations, and demand accountability without fear of being branded enemies of the state, abducted or disappeared without trace. 2. The existence of governance challenges in Europe , Asia or even the United States does not expressly erase governance challenges or systemic administrative dysfunction in Africa. Corruption in Paris does not justify corruption in Kampala. Poor service delivery in France does not excuse poor service delivery in Uganda. If anything, citizens everywhere should demand better governance from their leaders. 3. Countries are judged by the strength of their institutions, public services, infrastructure, economic performance, rule of law, and accountability mechanisms, not by whether people are protesting in the streets on a given day or rather by their inability to shoot at sight and maim genuine protesters dissenting or exposing government dysfunction or deliberate underperformance. So Referring to Western countries as “failed states” is a gross exaggeration. 4. genuine African patriotism should not depend on pretending that other regions are collapsing. Africa’s case for self-determination is strong enough on its own. We do not need to celebrate the problems of others to believe in ourselves. Finally, if you @NatashaAhereza is going to encourage us to study history, then history should be studied in full. It teaches us not only about colonial exploitation but also about the dangers of corruption, personality cults, weak institutions, and leaders who remain in power for decades without sufficient accountability. History is most useful when it challenges our biases rather than confirms them. Africa absolutely has the potential to prosper through unity, innovation, and self-reliance. But that prosperity will come from honest self-reflection, strong institutions, rule of law and accountable leadership, not from convincing ourselves that everyone else is failing and singing praises to leaders who are not up to the cause.
African, EAC, Uganda, we are blessed, but we do not know it. Earlier we unite to fight for ourselves, the better. In France, young people the so-called Gen Z have been violently protesting since yesterday, the 17th of October, over bad governance and corruption. They are feeling ignored by their government, demanding better schools, and speaking out against high costs of living, education cuts, a shortage of teachers, and overall poor public service delivery. To my shock, this is a Western country the very people who have always pretended to come to Africa to solve our problems. For the longest time, the truth is slowly coming out: these Western countries are failed states themselves. The God of Africa is still alive. We can still unite and do better for ourselves, rather than having these people disorganize us in the name of "helping" us. Mzee @KagutaMuseveni has always called upon Ugandans and Africans to interest themselves in studying history, get to know deep facts about these people, and come back to unite and work for ourselves. Thank you, Mzee, for being a giraffe always seeing far, telling us the truth and here we are today, seeing everything clearly for ourselves LONG LIVE UGANDA LONG LIVE AFRICA
