DISTILLING 101: Filtering means to remove. If a vodka needed to be filtered at all let alone 3Xs how bad were the flavors that were in there before the filter? How many times is ours filtered...none.
DISTILLING 101: Vodka must be distilled to 95% ABV. It doesn't matter if it takes one distillation or twenty, it just has to get to 190 proof. If it takes you twenty though you might should get new equipment. Seems inefficient.

DISTILLING 101: What does the back of your bottle say? "DISTILLED and bottled by or PRODUCED and bottled by"? That subtle difference means the distilling is happening in house versus the spirit showing up already finished and just going into glass.
Martini time. Do you like it dry or dirty? That question might entice more fist fights than discussing politics. But at least with this quarrel you have a drink in the end. 🍸 🍸 🍸
DISTILLING 101: The Block uses open top fermentation for all of the spirits that will go into oak. This allows some "natural" influence from the airborne yeast, souring the ferment and adding depth and complexity to the whiskey. #distilling101 #everydamndrop

The Hydrometer.
Small and simple in design, but an essential tool around here. Distillers use hydrometers to get an accurate reading on the proof of the alcohol. This let’s us know how much water needs added to cut the spirit down to bottling strength.
