I've suggested we go somewhere with air conditioning.
Sherlock looked genuinely offended.
Apparently suffering is "excellent for concentration."
Easy to say when you're not carrying the shopping.
Sunday afternoons in London always sound different.
Today it's children in paddling pools, distant ice cream vans, and Sherlock complaining that birds are "unnecessarily loud."
Sherlock has been standing in front of the open fridge for six minutes.
He insists he's "thinking."
I'm fairly certain he's just cooling off.
Mrs Hudson has declared the kitchen off limits until the temperature drops below "absolutely ridiculous."
She's right.
Medical advice for today:
Drink water.
Wear sunscreen.
Don't decide today's the perfect day to run a marathon because "it's only a bit warm."
Sunday was supposed to involve a lie-in.
Instead, Sherlock announced at 7:12 a.m. that "the heat has changed London's crime patterns."
I miss sleeping.
If this heatwave lasts another week, Baker Street will either solve every case in London...
...or the detective will finally admit that owning an air conditioner is not intellectual defeat.
I'm not optimistic.
Current situation:
Mrs Hudson is making iced tea.
I'm hiding in the shade.
Sherlock has vanished.
Which almost certainly means I'll be leaving the house in five minutes.
If anyone's wondering, no, Sherlock isn't wearing sunscreen.
His argument is that he "rarely remains outdoors long enough."
I hate that this is statistically true.
