I composed this article very quickly so if it looks thrown together, it was thrown together. Still, a history I hadn't seen told and a curiosity I wanted to fill so I wrote this.
Caught a look at the burned out old Merchants of Green Coffee building from the DVP today. A real bummer and lame if it was arson. It was a neat industrial space.
Good news: The files you requested is in. They are full of interesting contextual information.
Slightly disappointing news: The one specific piece of information you were most hoping would be contained in them is not present.

My favourite part of reading Police Court stories is the funny tidbits of information.
This one from June 25, 1860 has some deviants get LESS time in jail than the usual month because the gaol was overcrowded! (The under construction Don Jail was supposed to help on space)
The latest Toronto History Curiosities digs deep and looks up at a map of Eaton's tunnels, a view of Charlotte's Castle, and some bootlegging under Gladstone(?).

Is there a word for a perfectly framed building at the end of a street, and if so, can I submit the Playter House as one of the best? #EastEndTO
A few properties at 390-396 Church Street came up in some research. Very neat to see a Chinese Laundry in the Archives.
Thanks to everyone who attended last night!
