For Bitcoin only purchases, sales (don't!), custody and USD (fiat) interest on your cash, you cannot do better than River. Secure and Transparent. Low fees. Easy interface. My #1 go to for BTC.
At River a culture of security and paranoia has been in our DNA since day 1. Often that meant doing things the hard way instead of moving fast.
For example, we have always operated our own custody system. This meant doing the work to be a regulated financial institution in our infancy instead of delegating the backend to companies like Prime Trust.
We have always worked to minimize reliance on third parties where possible, and as our ability to build software systems accelerates we continue to delete both software and corporate dependencies.
We budget a substantial % of our engineering resources every year to tackle tech debt and invest in security hardening. This means moving slower, but having confidence in our foundation and doing right by our clients.
I personally give the company security training to every new employee who joins River and we constantly drive a culture of vigilance at the company. We tell every employee at River that their job is to be a security professional.
Security isn't a team or a "thing" you do. It's a culture of extreme paranoia and humility - never feeling like you're secure enough and always trying to do better.
Today’s election results will help me pick a new state when I am finally able to leave Illinois.
Go vote!
A million miles on @united - thanks for the recognition and always getting me there safely.
Ten year Anniversary for my consulting company...summary of my work:
Bob: "So, what do you say you do here?"
Client: "I am a people person, dammit!"

A politician speaking truth…will anyone listen? Buy hard assets (Gold, Silver, Bitcoin) to protect your wealth. It ain’t gonna get better.
Yes, the gold is there all (approximately) 147 million ounces. It is impressive, but the real point is what it still teaches in 2026.
In 1971 we severed the dollar from gold. Since then the currency has lost roughly 85% of its value. Prices are higher because the money itself is weaker.
A family making $50,000 with two kids that has not received a 25% raise in the last five years is falling behind.
This is now often called “affordability,” but the the accurate word is inflation.
We run annual deficits of two trillion dollars. The Federal Reserve buys about a third of that debt by creating new money. Every new dollar dilutes the value of the dollars already in people’s pockets. Gold does not expand when Congress spends. Paper does.
That is the difference.
Can confirm! Spot on.
The Navy didn’t achieve its nuclear safety record because 20-year-olds can operate reactors. It achieved it because Rickover built a culture where those 20-year-olds are rigorously trained, continuously evaluated, procedurally disciplined and surrounded by layers of technical oversight.
The reactor is only part of the system. The culture is the safety system.

This Illinois law is remarkably bad - it will end up hurting the state, kill jobs and push innovation out of the state.
Coinbase has 1,517,628 customers (aka voters!) in Illinois.
If you think this is bad policy, sign up at @standwithcrypto and let your representatives know
This is one of the most anti-crypto laws in the U.S.
It taxes the exchange, transfer, or storage of digital assets—you buy BTC, you pay a tax; you hold your BTC on Coinbase, you pay a tax; and so on.
There is effectively no comparable state financial transaction tax on stocks, bonds, or derivatives anywhere in the country. That means crypto is being singled out in violation of several federal laws.
Further, the approach makes little sense—you aren’t taxed if you exchange a stock, bond, or derivative in paper form, but you are taxed if they happen to be recorded on a blockchain? That’s like taxing email.
So, rather than embracing innovation and the cost efficiencies blockchains can deliver for ordinary people in Illinois, the state is poised to punish its entrepreneurs and citizens that want to use crypto.
This is a shame—it was only just recently that Illinois embraced a constructive approach to blockchain technology through the adoption of the effectively-scoped Digital Assets and Consumer Protection Act. This new tax is a complete 180.
When states adopt discriminatory, asset-specific taxes that drive builders and users elsewhere, we all lose.
I once again draw your attention to the 200 week moving average in Bitcoin. Since 2019 the CAGR has been about 56% a year always going up and to the right.
Ignore the ups and downs daily and even weekly.
Buy when it is near the 200 Week MA. Hold. Simple.
this is what my brain was doing when I had to solve that equation in Physics class at the University of Illinois in 1988. I have never recovered...

After TSA is funded, members of Congress should still stand in line. They aren't royalty. We had a revolution to get rid of that. They are our employees. This is a great place to remind them of that!
Atlanta’s Delta Airlines announced this week that it is suspending its stand-alone service for members of Congress until the TSA is fully funded. #gapol

Proud dad moments I never even contemplated as a young father…tracking my son’s Navy T6 training flight in New Mexico while I drink a beer on a Florida beach.
Tech is awesome. Kids are awesomer!
I am once again calling your attention to the 200 Week Moving Average (at $58K) which has always been a pretty good risk return entry point. We may go a bit lower, but historically this is an asymmetric opportunity. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Bitcoin is dead.
You had the chance to buy below the 200 Week MA...did you? It's now back above the 200 WMA but you can still get some #bitcoin relatively cheap as the banks go insolvent and the FED and Gov't bails them out.
