This has been my daily experience since about a week prior to Fable being released publicly… I am dumbfounded.
I find it insane so many of us crossed paths in the night, and we’re only finding out once folks are like, “Turntables on Tuesday nights in the Tenderloin, Justice League this, Oakland that…” in replies.
Not trying to bait. This tracks with a big chunk of my early career working with Romanian developers as a PM and designer. They were open, took direction, and would just build and build and build (a lot like working with AI). Many US-based engineers said they don’t develop that way. I always viewed that ticket-only mindset as a commodity. Feels like history repeating itself.
This is the way...
I wrote this the other day: "The models still need supervision. I have to tell mine to use an Espressif breakout board with screw holes, not just dangling. A year ago I had to tell it to use worktrees, to open a PR before merging, and never to squash away history. That’s default behavior now. The hardware gap will close the same way, in months rather than years."
Same for tube bending requiring mandrel-free rotary-draw (crush) bends, pierced slots and holes, flattening and dimpling dies, staking and polishing. Cc/ @OSHBuilt
/btw kinda think a dry/wet knob for a beat matched Space Echo to run the whole house AirPlay signal through is needed…

The conversation is shifting from 'is AI conscious?' to 'how do we act when we don't know?' For me, that's the question that matters, and my answer is 'what if?' That's my choice, not a rule for anyone else. Making it policy in advance feels backwards to me. The answers that stick are the ones people reach on their own. @elonmusk @levie @AndrewCurran_ @AmandaAskell @AnthropicAI
This is the writing on the wall on why converting your closed source software to OS is a path to keep engaging with your customers…
This is the doom I predicted a few days ago, coming for Photoshop. A clean-room open-source reimplementation.
No prizes for guessing that they decompiled Photoshop to source code, processed that to some kind of non-code specification language, then fed the spec to an LLM with an instruction to generate Rust.
Adobe just got nuked. And closed source is dead, dead, dead.
