Politics ain't a do or die. We need to tolerate one another, regardless of their Political affiliations. Kudos @ShabanKigozi1 and @Radio4UG for amplifying our voices. May we all win

A stronger profession, and a Uganda Law Society that works for every member. – at Kampala, Uganda

It cannot be business as usual at the Uganda Law Society.
We must make a deliberate effort to strengthen our members, improve their welfare, and create real opportunities for them. Our members must come first.
Because the truth is simple: no one listens to a weak Society. A strong ULS can only be built on strong, secure and prosperous members.
When our members are strong, our Society is strong. There are no two ways about it.

Im of the view that issues of homosexuality shouldn't be tied to schools. Let's use individual culpability, we live in a rotten society and culprits should be held accountable individually. There's no school that supports such vices. @Ntare_School

This is food for thought @AKyambadde I can't tell when, bt I surely know that some day, the capital will shift to Nakasongola. We need to think ahead. 20 yrs frm now, Kampala won't accommodate us all. See hw we are building on drainage, city square looked at as space 4 a hotel
Today’s plenary, Hon. @AKyambadde raised a thought-provoking question: “Why can’t Uganda consider relocating its capital to another part of the country? Kampala is increasingly overcrowded, with mounting pressure on infrastructure and public services.

In Uganda, habeas corpus is inviolable under Articles 23(9) and 44(d) of the Constitution. It cannot be suspended. Judges must uphold this right and grant the writ whenever its legal requirements are met. No authority is above judicial scrutiny. #RuleOfLaw – at Kampala, Uganda
Today I am publishing a new position paper: The Inviolable Writ: Habeas Corpus, Judicial Timidity and the Constitutional Promise of Liberty in Uganda.
Our Constitution makes the right to habeas corpus inviolable. It cannot be suspended, not even in a state of emergency. The framers wrote those words after decades of safe houses, detention without trial and disappearances. They meant them.
Yet in our courts today, the Great Writ is in trouble.
The paper examines five recent files: my own application from Kitalya Mini Max prison; Dr Kizza Besigye and Hajji Obeid Lutale; Christopher Gody (King Zale); Sam Mugumya; and Hon. Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi. In each, the court sent the applicant elsewhere, waited for the State to produce a charge, accepted a bare denial of custody, withheld the writ, or issued an order the State simply ignored.
One habit lies beneath all of them. Judges treat a habeas application as an ordinary motion, with mention dates, affidavits in reply, preliminary objections, written submissions and reserved rulings. Every one of those steps favours the only party who is not waiting: the jailer.
Sam Mugumya has now been missing for over fourteen months. King Zale has been missing for more than 160 days. The writ exists for exactly these cases.
The paper sets out the law, the case record, the gap between the two, and what must change. It also includes a working procedure and court-ready templates so that young lawyers can file and argue an application the day it is needed.
The Great Writ, habeas corpus, asks one question: by what lawful authority do you hold this body?

I don't know much about hon. Sentayi, but judging from his unbiased presentation. He possesses qualities of some one that can change a nation. Much respect🙏. He's an asset that PLU seem not to see. That's a rare character, I've not seen even on the opposition side.

Listen to this fool!
His wife is a high-ranking officer in the UPDF, the fool gets free medical treatment from highly specialized military hospitals, security around his home, and he is here talking nonsense!
Member of Parliament Busiro south Kenan opioi offers to pay school fees for one of the kids of the fallen former MP of the same constituency for 4 years. What's your take?
Guy didn't go to school, his Nasser papers have been flying all over. I'm Eagerly waiting for the court decision. Waiting to see if education is indeed the key to success or may be there other ways.
As we laugh at MPs whose academic qualifications are being questioned, let’s not forget Bakashaba of Mbarara City North, whose case is already in court, with judgment expected on 10th November. 👀⚖️
Let’s not play with the Constitution! The law must take its course, and if the requirements for holding public office are clear, nobody should be above them.
The courtroom will speak on 10th November. Uganda is watching! 🇺🇬
