Tariffs generate plenty of slogans. THE VERDICT ON TARIFFS asks the harder question: do they actually work?
Who pays. Who wins. What history reveals.

Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control imposed sanctions on the Rwandan Ministry of Defence and Zigama Credit and Savings Society, a Rwandan financial institution that has played a key role in facilitating Rwanda’s support for the March 23 Movement and its political wing, the Congo River Alliance.

A teraz spójrz tutaj!”

The World Bank projects a major gap between the number of young people reaching working age in developing economies and the jobs those economies are expected to create. AI may raise productivity, but it may also disrupt the entry-level roles that traditionally help young people build experience.

American company Anzana Electric has signed a $1.4 billion public-private partnership with the Government of Burundi to transform the country's electricity grid, the largest investment in Burundi's history. Over the next several years, the agreement will raise the electrification rate from 12 percent to 70 percent, bringing reliable power to millions of Burundians for the first time. A modern grid will open the door to a new wave of U.S. private-sector investment and strengthen U.S. supply chains, including in mining and agro-processing. Building it will put thousands of Burundians to work, proving what partnership with American business can deliver for both our countries.

"I lost my luggage on RwandAir. After its CEO told me they would not do anything, I came to Twitter to call them out. On my next trip to Rwanda, 8 men in suits came to my hotel and took me in and kept me in prison for 2 weeks."
I started visiting Rwanda around 2010, when you still needed a visa to travel to Rwanda.
In this picture is sports, youth and culture minister Joe Habineza, with me. He died in 2021. We would hang out whenever I was in Rwanda. Went around the city of Kigali, where people recognised him and praised him.
Mr. Habineza was Rwanda’s Ambassador to Nigeria then and he would bring visa sticker to the Lagos airport from Abuja and put it on my passport and we would fly to Kigali.
I volunteered at Kwetu Institute to teach. That’s a film school owned by Eric Kabera.
This is where it gets interesting. I lost my luggage on RwandAir. After trying to reach Yvonne Makolo, its CEO and she told me they would not do anything, I came to Twitter to call them out.
On my next trip to Rwanda, 8 men in suit came to my hotel on the day I was supposed to leave and took me in and kept me in prison for 2 weeks…
Until there was an intervention from people Kagame listened to, like President Obasanjo…
When he imprisoned Paul Rusesabagina, I had to work with his family to reach out to those prominent Africans who started talking to him.
So, when you go to Rwanda for Formula 1 in 2030, which is years away, behave well.

Most recent estimates put RDF’s deployments in Congo at 14,000-18,000 in early 2026, around 40-50% of the Rwandan army’s total manpower of 35,000. This is a substantial increase from 900-1,000 in May 2022, 3,000-4,000 in early 2024, and 6,000-10,000 in early 2025.
Unlike West Germany - which chose to consent to agreements to rebuild its global reputation - or Uganda, which accidentally trapped itself by previously signing a blanket agreement accepting the ICJ authority, Rwanda has consistently refused to give its consent.
