We Must Pace the Frontier: I’ve written a new essay on why the AI industry should slow down, with a three-part plan for doing so.
Anthropic is unilaterally committing to the first of these steps. We’ll provide third-party evaluators with permanent, employee-level access to our systems, so that they can verify adherence to our safety measures, report on incidents, and assess models’ alignment during training.

Closure is a myth. Grief doesn't evaporate—it waxes and wanes.
The purpose of grief is not to cause pain. It's to keep memories of loved ones alive and remind us to make the most of our time.
Moving forward after loss is not about erasing sorrow. It's about gaining perspective.

Massachusetts is permitting 2.5 units of housing per 1,000 residents. Some of the worst housing production numbers in the nation & half the national average.
We have to recognize our housing production problems, both in the amount of housing we build and what we’re building.

Once upon a time I thought we would be together forever, but your increasing clunkiness and pop-ups has all been too much. The time has come to find a new home for my external brain.
Hit me with your Apple Notes tips, all!

🧵Brad East taxonomized Christian writing into 4 tiers, 3 of which also may apply to churches and Christian conferences.
1: Universal (Beth Moore)
2: Popular (John Mark Comer)
3: High Brow (N.T. Wright)
4: Scholarly (Willie James Jennings)
Let's look at each.
