In 2017 @BaronCapital began buying @SpaceX stocks through secondary sales by SpaceX employees when the company was valued at less than $22 billion. Since then Ron Baron participated in 27 funding rounds/tender offers. He claims to be one of the largest buyers in many of these rounds with a total investment of around $2 billion across funds and accounts.
By early/mid 2026, due to SpaceX valuation increases Baron Partners Fund (BPTRX) had more than 30% allocated to SpaceX with other funds holding substantial portions as well. During the SpaceX IPO he bought another $1 billion. This brought Baron Capital's total SpaceX position to roughly $25 billion post-IPO (more than +1000% in less than 10 years). He explicitly said this was to maintain ownership percentage and avoid dilution and believes that SpaceX could be valued at $20-40 trillion in 10 years. This is another +1000-2000%.
His $25 billion post-IPO stake makes SpaceX one of the largest positions for Baron Capital if not the largest. He remains fully committed and optimistic.
