🔥If your bonfire wasn't built today - then please MOVE IT NOW.‼️
It won't take nearly as long as you think, and then you can relax and enjoy it tonight.
I've seen the face of someone handing me a hedgehog smelling like a barbecue and screaming.
You never want to be that person.

🎶 LA LA LA LA LA LA… ARE YOU PART OF A CHOIR? 🎶
Dogs on the Streets is looking for a lovely, enthusiastic choir to volunteer their time and voices at our Strand Christmas Party on 6th December!
We’re bringing some festive cheer to our homeless and vulnerable community and their much-loved dogs. For many of the people we support, Christmas can be a particularly difficult and lonely time.
We want to make this day truly special, filled with warmth, kindness, connection and, of course, a little Christmas sparkle! ✨
We're looking for a choir who could give just ONE HOUR of their time to sing some Christmas favourites, lift spirits and help fill the room with the joy of the season.
🎤 Could you bring the voices?
🎄 Could you bring the festive spirit?
❤️ Could you help us make some beautiful Christmas memories?
Whether you're a community choir, workplace choir, church choir, or simply a group of people who love to sing together, we'd absolutely love to hear from you!
You don't need to be professional singers – just bring your enthusiasm, your voices and your Christmas spirit!
Fancy being part of something really special?
Please get in touch with Dogs on the Streets if you or your choir can help.
And if you know a choir who might be interested, please tag them or share this post.
Let's make this Christmas one to remember – because everyone deserves a little Christmas magic, including our homeless community and their four-legged best friends.
TRA LA LA LA… who's singing with us? 🎶

Meet Max approximately 13 to 14 years old and devastated he’s Owner who is going through multiple issues has decided to surrender him so he could get a loving home.
It would be ideal for Max to go to a Home that’s near to the Essex area so we can continue his ongoing treatment of Librella And pain relief for arthritis.
If you can provide a forever Foster, we will support you with food veterinary care and anything that Max requires but please let’s get him a loving home and snuggles before the winter really sets in. He loves humans and can get along with dogs too if you are interested, please contact.

quoting Max for further details there is a rehoming protocol 🙏
As soon as Carol asked Alan for his bank details, I feared he was doomed, maybe even to leave #TheArchers . It's odd a lawyer (rarely there for her mum when he was) hasn't stopped for 1 second to consider any possibilities other than he tricked her to get money. The Church, too.
This is so sad & frightening; #hedgehogs are so delightful & vulnerable & we have so few. Many will meet a horrible death on 5 November or next weekend. I always hope people will skip the bonfire part of this odd #GuyFawkes holiday but if not, please be super cautious, see below.
If you are starting to build your bonfire for next week, please remember NOT to build it on the spot where it will be lit.
You’ll need to move it the day you light it, or fence off the building area NOW, to prevent wildlife deaths.
A hedgehog who has made it as a nest won’t move if you poke her with a broom, light the bonfire from one side, shine a torch under, or any of the other myths that you have read from well meaning sites.
They’ll just stay in a frightened ball and be burnt to death.
I'm sure I'm all alone & maybe because I'm not a parent regularly subjected to it, but I can't bear Keira's whiny voice & ludicrously transparent attempts to miss school. Surely even busy parents would be on that by the time she's having to make it up in the holidays. #TheArchers
I find the tree story tedious & baffling. So in the 1987 Great Storm when 15m trees went down, people blamed landowners? Plus maybe if the tree surgeons said 'dangerous tree must be cut down' by the time of the storm - not have it looked at by a time we've not reached #TheArchers
Sent a few things - I encourage others to help this amazing charity help dear #dogs on the #London streets & their people.
We are preparing in advance for Christmas, especially for our Christmas party on the Strand that we hold every year for our homeless and vulnerable community with pet Dogs, any help with our wish list would be greatly appreciative 🎄 🎅 ❄️ 🛷

So amazing to see the definitive Godot in '09 with #SirPatrickStewart & Ian McKellan. Then James Corden's arrogant, disrespectful behaviour at awards towards this outstanding Shakespearean+ actor made me dislike JC despite G&S & remain baffled as he was embraced as affable chappy
SIR PATRICK STEWART (1940-2026)
Before everything else, Patrick was defined by being born and bred in Yorkshire, the proud county in the north of England which he loved to the end. You could hear it in his accented voice and in the stern honesty with which he told you what he thought and felt. Yorkshiremen have no truck with half-truths or avoidance of big issues. He wore his heart on his sleeve, which made him a man to rely on, to admire and in my case, love.
We first met as ambitious young actors with the Royal Shakespeare Company half a century ago but we weren’t in the same productions. My first strong memory was a few years later, meeting him in the street in central London when he told me about an offer to take over a leading part in 'Star Trek'. “But Patrick think of your stage career in the UK. Do you really want to risk—getting lost in Hollywood for years and years?”. Well, he took the risk and thank goodness for us all that he did for not just his devoted Trekkies but film and theatre audiences, who marvelled at his using international celebrity to star in a string of cinema successes ('X-Men' of course) and in great classical plays by Shakespeare, Ibsen, Arthur Miller, Peter Shaffer, Pinter and Beckett at Stratford-upon-Avon, in London’s West End and on Broadway.
America was his adopted home, where he met his adored Sunny who has cared for him through sickness and health, through thick and thin. But he never forsook his origins: and the proudest achievement of the most respected and beloved actor of his generation on either side of the Atlantic, was his appointment as Chancellor of Huddersfield University in Yorkshire.
His farewell performance in 'Avengers: Doomsday' is yet to be seen.

How absolutely horrible. I've been surprised & delighted to see a #hedgehog visit my garden in the middle of town & I know how much they travel so I hope no neighbours put out these killer Halloween decorations.
Halloween artificial cobweb material:
It may be a bit of fake fun for you, but it's a very real and terrifying death for them.
And it's not only birds.
Last year I had my first call of the season of a hedgehog trapped in this horrific fake 'cobweb', made especially for gullible halloweeners to spread over their greenery, trapping all unsuspecting birds, insects and mammals, including hedgehogs.
The fine synthetic fibers are difficult for animals to see and can quickly wrap around their legs, spines, and neck, leading to severe injuries.
When a hedgehog struggles to free herself the web tightens, cutting off circulation and causing deep wounds.
These constriction injuries often lead to permanent damage or death.
Unfortunately the call was from Manchester, so all I could do was talk them through getting the poor creature to a rescue.
Clearly she had been trapped there for at least one night, and her struggles had pulled the strong nylon strands so tightly that one of her toes had been amputated.
Can you imagine the pain and the sheer terror?
And then seeing dawn approach, while hanging there, tightly bound and helpless.
Aside from being stressed, dehydrated, starving and exhausted to the point of near death, she also had horrific bite/peck wounds to her face, where she had been held there, helpless, unable to curl and defend herself, while a predator tried to eat her alive.
If you have used this deadly cruel trap to 'decorate' your garden, please take it down now.
Please don't be conned by the greedy makers and sellers of this rubbish into hurting defenceless animals.
Wasn't it lovely back when we had Dave Allen on our screens regularly, plenty of sketches & comedy like this - plus a few other great comedians, there to brighten our world. Maybe that void is why we're so tense & grumpy now.
I did think it odd that a hairdresser was only attending a wedding for that reason & didn't think to bring her tools for touch-ups - never mind - but when rushing to the accident, could someone not pause to get blankets, waterproof things to cover Vince & a chainsaw?

What a shame that (1) two @HenleyLitFest talks I really want to see are at the same time [4pm] & (2) as I was only free at the last minute, I couldn't buy tickets at 4pm. Other festivals let you buy even during the livestream & join it late (I'd do it quietly!).
Tomorrow at the 20th Henley Literary Festival we welcome Rachel Parris, Lucian Msamati, Michael Morpurgo @LizPichon Dr Ranj @HelenLederer @jollyolly @RosieisaHolt @Neeneelou & many more!
Sad to learn from #LastWord that fab Stephanie Cole died. I wasn't here for Tenko but loved the grand elderly woman (in her 40s!) in Waiting for God & she was outstanding in @JohnFinnemore 's #CabinPressure . The BBC should repeat it now (I have the CDs) bbc.co.uk/sounds/brand/b00lm…
Go see #Tartuffe (Remixed) @MaryleboneTHLDN (a fine place); Moliere adapted/directed wonderfully by Darren Raymond. Every look & move by Mark Rylance was awesome; he's used to verse but not like this! Such fun. Impressive bold costumes & outstanding cast linked to @InterTheatre
Sainsbury's bakery already has mince pies, which seems wrong. Yes, I bought some and am having one now. Happy Christmas.
So far #Tartuffe (Remixed) @MaryleboneTHLDN (Rudolph Steiner House) is great. The God-like Mark Rylance is the con Pastor with huge fake teeth, a cast of fun folk--Nigerian & Jamaican families join. Surprised some of us are struggling with some of the latter's lines but all funny
Does anyone else think the reason the script had Alan mention he needs £6k to fix the church bell right before Carol asked for his bank details for something else will see Anna finding out she gave him the full sum & suspect foul play after an earlier warning to him?
