It depends on who you're hiring and the nature of the role.
🧵
I once worked with an international company where I often found myself working until 11 PM or even 1 AM due to the time zone difference and the need to align with the team's working hours.
During a 12-month contract, I produced between 10 and 30 designs daily. My productivity led the company to extend my contract by an additional two months.
Been looking to hire Graphics Designer and Video Editor for a client for 9-5 role in Abuja for 3 weeks
Lol…everybody wants to work virtually.
The client has been through hell and back managing creatives who work from home.
Graphics designer go dey flex for house, client go dey boil for office all because he says “there is no light in our areas sir” …
😂😂
What matters most is reliability, discipline, adaptability, and proper preparation to deliver under different circumstances.
Ultimately, whether someone works remotely or on-site shouldn't be the deciding factor. Skills, experience, reliability, and the ability to deliver should be what really counts.
To designers applying for roles, my advice is simple: Be honest with yourself about what you can comfortably handle before accepting an offer.
Understand the workload, expectations, and working conditions. Don't take on roles you cannot commit to, as this could lead to underperformance later.
Your decisions not only impact your reputation but can also jeopardise opportunities for other designers, reinforcing unfair stereotypes that remote designers are lazy or unreliable.
Let's not give the industry more reasons to perceive designers this way. ✌️

If José Mourinho were still Chelsea's manager, this would have been the last game Fofana ever played before sitting on the bench for the rest of his Chelsea career. 😭😂
