Seriously I don't get this argument and I think it indicates a profound basic conceptual confusion. The great majority of people work for private for-profit employers which a socialist economy would turn into public socialized property. What do you mean "what are we seizing"

The worst of "Stalinism" looks like SpongeBob compared to 1 % of the crimes of liberalism.
Replying to @therealmugomar
If you think Stalinists are better than liberals then idk what to tell you
Academic critical theory is not leftist and certainly not Marxist
Reposting this banger from @ContraPoints.
Leftists overestimate themselves massively. They're not nearly as eclectically well-read as they think they are.
No you haven't

I’m a liberal and I’ve read Marx, Engels, Mises, Hayek, Schumpeter etc. I’ve never met a socialist who has read the last three.
Amazon and Walmart can be socialized and nationalized the same as any factories so I do not understand how this argument is supposed to make any sense. In any case the USA is still the second largest manufacturer in the world.

Can’t help but notice that the NYC-DSA steering considers the sentence “What is next is greater” as being possibly a violation of their anti-violence policy but not directing government funds and support to openly Zionist organizations that work to support the Israeli occupation.
Replying to @petersterne
Over the weekend, NYC-DSA Steering released this long statement to members in response to claims that they threatened NYC-YDSA:
Imagine the Nazis won World War II and thirty years later, somewhere in Eastern Europe, Slavs and Jews break out of an open-air concentration camp and kill a bunch of German colonists, and the intelligentsia goes, "A Left That Refuses to Condemn Mass Murder Is Doomed"
I have no idea what "Adjusted for the cost of living" means because the cost of living in the US is completely insane and out of control. I am not going to self-flaggellate.
"Most of the time, I want to leave my neighbors alone; I want them to leave me alone" because fundamentally you are bourgeois. That's not how humans are supposed to live and you're caricaturing what dense social living is like by pointing to dysfunctional anarchist ways of living
On some level, abolition is a vision of the world not without police, but where everyone is asked to be police, all the time.
Your time constantly occupied with monitoring your neighbors, “holding them accountable,” counseling them, “educating” them, shaming them, and punishing them.
I’m not interested in that work or in that world. I do not think the best vision of life is where we’re all constantly enmeshed that deeply in an interminable act of mutual “accountability.” Most of the time, I want to leave my neighbors alone; I want them to leave me alone. I want to have a place that is a refuge from “the community,” because “the community” is often (usually?) just the self-appointed individuals who claim to speak on its behalf, and who have the sociopathic ambitions required to defeat other challengers and scare off dissent.
In other words, while capitalist atomization has robbed us of many positive social bonds, it has in fact liberated us from many negative ones. The work of a socialist project should certainly involve trying to revive or renew positive sociality, but I do not actually want to return to the “community” dynamics of a medieval peasant village, or a nomadic band on the steppe.
I would like *some* measure of privacy and autonomy, and I do not want to be police. I do not want to live under the totalitarian thumb of “the community” any more than I want to live under the totalitarian thumb of capital.
And so I am not an abolitionist, because that is what abolition actually offers.

Why is Mamdani’s NYPD arresting a DSA elected he endorsed for protesting a war criminal? I’d love to know!
Unbelievable.
3 hours later and the 10Y Note Yield is now above 5.20% for the first time in 19 years.
The 10Y Note Yield is now up +50 basis points in 30 days and +30 basis points in 2 days.
Even more remarkable is that the average American has no idea this is happening. Yet.
The bond market is imploding in front of our eyes.
I don't want "the Left and liberalism" to meet because liberalism is evil. Steinem was evil and bourgeois feminism is evil. CIA operatives are evil. Any ideology compatible with the CIA is evil.
Leftists shouldn’t remember Gloria Steinem as an opponent.
She was a vital broker of ideas, organizations, and people who connected social movements to mainstream political institutions and helped make a space where the Left and liberalism could meet. jacobin.com/2026/09/steinem-…

I think that socialist/communist spaces really do suffer from letting radical liberals come into them and set the rules. Mass politics is an anathema to radlibs and individualist narcissism ends up being framed as somehow revolutionary when it is actual poison to movements.

The fact that journalists - particularly Middle East correspondents - don't remotely understand that Al Qaeda and ISIS are ultimately tools of US/Gulf/Israeli foreign policy should tell you everything you need to know about Western "journalism"
Libertarianism is to the right what anarchism is to the left. Neglecting that you need a powerful state to deal with class contradiction. The bourgeoisie requires a huge bureaucratic-police state to retain control and the working class requires the dictatorship of the proletariat
Libertarians have disappeared from American politics. Their think tanks and magazines are richly endowed but irrelevant, their ideas exhausted. What happened to champions of free markets and free people?

"we got an anonymous phone call so you don't have rights anymore." Is a massive problem in the US. We have such a police state at this point that some random from the internet can swat anyone or petition a restraining order that directly disenfranchises an actual citizen.
