It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of Prof. Alfred Goldberg, my postdoc mentor and colleague. Fred’s contributions to science were profound and far-reaching, and his passing leaves a void. He was a passionate advocate for science and education. We will miss him.

PSA: Static ATP levels do not reflect ATP turnover, ATP charge or mitochondrial OXPHOS. In this case, inhibition of mito flux increased ATP/ADP, consistent with mito ATP consumption, not synthesis...

It's often said that ATP is the 'Energy Currency' of the cell.. But how exactly does that work? How do we quantitate the relationship between metabolic network fluxes and the energy that is dissipated to drive all the things that cells do? Check out this🧵1/3

To all Seahorse XF Analyzer users:
If basal oxygen consumption rate (OCR) > FCCP-induced OCR: your experiment failed.
If basal OCR = FCCP-induced OCR: your experiment might have (likely) failed.
The use of uncouplers (like FCCP) to achieve max OCR requires proper titration.
