Opeyemi Tade, one of UT-ORII’s FY25-26 GATE awardees, is focusing on the design and synthesis of novel glucocorticoid analogs – used as anti-inflammatory agents- to develop simple one- and three-ring analogs that retain therapeutic efficacy while minimizing adverse outcomes.

Emine Berfu, a GST PhD at @UTKnoxville, is working in the Regenerative Medicine and Tissue Engineering Laboratory to develop a novel biomaterial scaffold that combines polymers and nanoparticles to mimic tissue structure and functionality.
