שלושה נתונים שאנחנו הישראלים חייבים להכיר לגבי הבחירות בארצות-הברית:
1. המועמדים הדמוקרטים המצליחים ביותר, אלה ש"הפכו" מדינות רפובליקאיות, אלה שהיכו בתדהמה את הסקרים, אלה שאחראים ל"רוב המפלצתי" של הדמוקרטים בקונגרס, הם המועמדים המתונים יותר של המפלגה.
התקשורת הישראלית עוסקת המון בעבדול א-סייד, המועמד הקיצוני שניצח במישיגן, אבל בין כל הדמוקרטים שניצחו בסנאט, הוא הביא את המספרים הכי חלשים. מישיגן היא מדינה מתנדנדת קלאסית, הוא ניצח שם בפער של 7%.
לשם השוואה, בטקסס, המועמד הדמוקרטי ג'יימס טלאריקו ניצח בפער של 12% (!), אירוע שהוא באמת רעידת אדמה פוליטית.
בג'ורג'יה, הסנאטור היהודי ג'ון אוסוף, ניצח בפער של 18%, הישג בלתי-נתפס. אוסוף נבחר לראשונה לסנאט ב-2020 עם ניצחון דחוק של אחוז אחד בלבד.
אפילו בקנזס, מדינה סופר-שמרנית, המועמד הדמוקרטי אדם המילטון, ניצח בפער של 5%... ניצחון דמוקרטי ראשון לסנאט שם מאז המאה ה-19 (!)
הניצחונות המרשימים מאד של המועמדים הללו, צובעים באור חיוור את הניצחון של א-סייד. מישיגן זו מדינה שהדמוקרטים היו צריכים לנצח בפער דו-ספרתי לפי הנתונים של אתמול. ובאמת, המועמדת הדמוקרטית למושלת מישיגן, ג'וסלין בנסון, ניצחה בפער של 11%... אבל היו יותר מ-100 אלף דמוקרטים שהצביעו עבורה ולא הצביעו עבור א-סייד.
2. בגלל גודלו החריג של הניצחון הדמוקרטי, האגף הקיצוני במפלגה הולך להיות הרבה פחות משפיע בקונגרס הקרוב. לדמוקרטים יהיו 56 סנאטורים ו-250 חברי קונגרס, וזה נותן הרבה מרחב תימרון למנהיגי המפלגה.
בואו נדמיין רגע לילה אחר של הדמוקרטים, לילה של ניצחון דחוק, שמסתיים עם 51 או 52 סנאטורים, כולל א-סייד. במצב כזה, "כל ממזר מלך", אי-אפשר לקדם אף חוק בלי התמיכה של א-סייד, והסיכויים של צ'אק שומר הציוני הגאה להיבחר למנהיג הרוב הדמוקרטי בסנאט, שואפים לאפס.
בואו נדמיין רגע שבמקום 250 חברי קונגרס, היו לדמוקרטים רק 225, מתוכם 10-15 שמתנגדים לכל סוג של סיוע לישראל כולל כיפת ברזל. במצב כזה, שוב, אי-אפשר לעשות כלום בלי האגף הכי קיצוני של המפלגה, שיכול לקחת את כולם בני-ערובה לטובת אג'נדה אנטי-ישראלית.
אבל זה לא המצב. ג'פריס, מנהיג הדמוקרטים בקונגרס, לא צריך את הרדיקלים כדי לשלוט בסדר היום, כי יש לו 250 אצבעות. זה רוב עצום. אי-אפשר לסחוט אותו. וחשוב לזכור, זה בן-אדם שביקר בישראל פעמים רבות בקריירה שלו, מכיר אישית את הצמרת הישראלית (תיכף נדבר על נתניהו והחובה הדחופה להעיף אותו), ואמנם יש לו ביקורת קשה על ישראל בנושאים מסוימים, אבל הוא ממש לא נגדנו.
3. וכאן מגיע החלק הכי חשוב: בהתנהלות מדינית חכמה, ישראל יכולה למצוא שותפים בקונגרס הדמוקרטי החדש, וגם בקרב מושלי המדינות הדמוקרטים ששולטים כיום ברוב המדינות בארצות-הברית. נציין בהקשר הזה את ידיד ישראל ג'וש שפירו, המושל היהודי של המדינה הכי חשובה בפוליטיקה האמריקאית, פנסילבניה, שנבחר מחדש ברוב עצום של 22% (!).
אבל ישראל לא יכולה להרשות לעצמה עוד קדנציה של בנימין נתניהו. האיש הזה שרף את כל הגשרים לדמוקרטים המתונים. ג'פריס, שומר, שפירו, האנשים בפוליטיקה האמריקאית *שאוהבים את מדינת ישראל*, לא יכולים לשמוע את השם שלו, לא יכולים לראות את הפרצוף שלו, ואם הוא סמל השלטון של מדינת ישראל, אז אנחנו הולכים לאבד אותם. נקודה.
הערה לסיום: החלפת נתניהו לא תפתור את כל הבעיות שלנו באמריקה. מי שחושב ככה, טועה בגדול. אבל השארת נתניהו זה מתכון לאסון מדיני שיהיו לו השלכות מסוכנות על ביטחון ישראל. נתניהו שרוף לא רק בצד הדמוקרטי, אלא גם אצל הרפובליקאים - סגן הנשיא מאשים אותו ישירות בהפסד שלהם בבחירות.
ישראל חייבת קודם כל לצמצם את הסכנה המיידית שנובעת מהזיהוי המוחלט שלה עם המותג הרעיל והשרוף נתניהו. אחרי זה, תהיה עוד המון, המון עבודה. אבל כל עוד הוא בשלטון, אי-אפשר אפילו להתחיל לתקן את הנזקים.

Je n’ai jamais vu un meilleur orateur depuis Obama qui était absolument injouable derrière un pupitre. Une exposition limpide alors que cette séquence est très riche en information.
Il a d’ailleurs exactement les mêmes intonations qu’Obama à plusieurs moments dans cette vidéo. Soit c’est naturel soit il a passé beaucoup d’heures à le rendre naturel, dans les deux cas c’est remarquable.

Le régime algérien doit répondre d’un fait accablant : un journaliste est privé de liberté pour une affaire liée à son travail. La souveraineté d’un État ne saurait justifier l’atteinte à la liberté d’informer. Gleizes n’est pas une monnaie diplomatique : il doit être libéré.

Un régime politique à bout de souffle mais qui continue à prétendre trouver un sauveur suprême tous les 5 ans; une protection sociale aux taux de prélèvements faramineux mais en faillite; une police violente envers des manifestants lambdas mais vite dépassée par les casseurs; une classe politique qui prétend parler au « peuple » mais s’empresse de ne jamais entendre les résultats des consultations populaires; une population qui aspire au respect mais vote pour des repris de justice condamnés; un État central embolisé mais qui prétend régenter de manière uniforme 67 millions d’habitants; un pays qui brûle en été et se plaint du prix de l’essence mais refuse d’engager les mesures nécessaires à la transition écologique; la situation internationale la plus grave depuis la fin de la Guerre Froide mais un nombrilisme nationaliste qui fait le jeu de tous les collabos potentiels, etc.
Il y a quand même des moments où c’est dur d’avoir l’optimisme de la volonté…

⚬ Podle analýz Bloomberg Economics by čínská invaze na Tchaj-wan stála globální ekonomiku v prvním roce 10 bilionů USD (cca 10 % světového HDP), přičemž samotné státy Evropské unii by zaznamenaly propad HDP přesahující 5 %, což je hlubší pokles než během finanční krize v roce 2008 nebo pandemie covidu-19.
⚬ Tchaj-wan kontroluje přes 90 % celosvětové kapacity výroby nejvyspělejších mikročipů (pod 7 nm) a více než 60 % celkové světové produkce čipů. Přerušení dodávek by v EU ze dne na den způsobilo akutní nedostatek komponentů pro automobilový průmysl, zdravotnickou techniku i spotřební elektroniku.
⚬ Tchajwanským průlivem ročně propluje přes 21 % celosvětového námořního obchodu (zboží v hodnotě 2,45 trilionu USD) a téměř polovina světové kontejnerové flotily. Námořní blokáda nebo konflikt by znamenaly okamžitou paralyzaci přímých dodavatelských tras mezi Evropou a Východní Asií.
⚬ Výzkumné centrum CSIS a Rhodium Group odhadují, že kvůli kombinaci západních sankcí, námořních blokád a přerušení financování obchodu s Čínou by celosvětový objem obchodu klesl o dvouciferné procentní hodnoty, což by v EU vyvolalo skokovou inflaci a výpadky v dodávkách průmyslových meziproduktů.
⚬ Vzhledem k tomu, že 10 největších odběratelů tchajwanské TSMC reprezentuje tržní kapitalizaci blízkou 14 trilionům USD, výpadek výroby by okamžitě vedl k masivní korekci na evropských i globálních akciových trzích a k dlouhodobému znehodnocení majetku.

This woman is one of the brave members of my #WhiteWednesdays campaign against compulsory hijab.
She sent me this photo of her scarred back after being punished with 74 lashes for the “crime” of showing her hair.
Holding a Woman, Life, Freedom slogan, she refused to be silenced. Here is her testimony:
“The morality police arrested me for resisting their van. My ‘crime’ was unveiling. After months of court hearings, I was sentenced to 74 lashes. The cleric overseeing the punishment stood there to ensure it was carried out.
I won’t give up my fight against this brutal regime, but we are fed up with living as prisoners in our own homeland.”
Seventy-four lashes. For showing her hair. In the 21st century.
This is barbarism. And you tell me, how is this different from ISIS?

Dear friends,
Unfortunately, the Srebrenica Memorial Center continues to be targeted by the corrupt Bosnian Serb police and judiciary.
I know for a fact that a plan is being prepared to raid the Memorial Center. I am not privy to the operational details, but I know the plan exists. I understand that it would involve special police units and Bosnian Serb TV cameras.
The operation appears to have two objectives: first, to discredit and intimidate the Memorial Center; and second, to put me in prison and subject me to years of politically motivated proceedings.
The only way we can fight back is by bringing this into the open. Transparency is our only protection - and, ultimately, our only means of survival in such an adversarial environment.

These ordinary, ordinary Afghan women have committed no specific crime and pose no security threat. In Afghanistan, a woman’s mere presence on the street is treated as a crime. This constant fear, anxiety, and deprivation of the most basic freedoms is the daily reality of millions of Afghan women—many of whom no longer even dare to leave their homes.
Otherwise they are arrested and imprisoned day and night like this, and after prison some of them are even rejected by their own families.
