I offer an independent eye on #Brexit, having worked for 28 years as an independent business thought leader, speaker and author.
I speak and write on matters of building a better Britain in a better Europe for a better World.
Without fear or favour for political parties.
The accession requirements stated in A49 would be subject to discussion and joint agreement between UK & EU. Who knows what would actually happen? Given what the UK got in return for the2016 Referendum result, I'd say it isn't over until that hoop has been reached... @BrexitRage

People have felt Brexit, seen it's "benefits" and have been found wanting!
@andyburnham ime to rejoin!
But wait; the "Boris wave" flung our borders open to a flood of immigration from Africa and Asia 3 times greater than anything seen before - GDP growth just by population increase. What about per cumulative real GDP growth since 2016, per Capita?
Oh dear.

Nothing says ‘Keep Britain British’ quite like standing in the rain looking furious while someone behind you celebrates everything that makes Britain diverse.

🇬🇧🇪🇺 Brexit’s days are numbered.
Burnham will ask the EU about the conditions for rejoining at the summit.
The EU will offer the UK an interim arrangement while accession is negotiated.
Europe’s support the UK’s return, as do over 60% of Britons.
Labour leads with 32%, will win the next election and will put rejoining the EU in its next manifesto.
Burnham will go down as Britain’s best prime minister in decades.

🚨 EXPLAIN THIS! Northern Ireland kept access to the EU goods market.
Since 2019:
🇪🇺 Northern Ireland: +12.7%
🇬🇧 UK: +6.3%
Almost DOUBLE the economic growth.
If leaving the EU was supposed to make us richer, why is Northern Ireland showing the Sunlit uplands are in the EU? 🇪🇺

Referendum? Why? The last one made a mockery of the whole thing, as it was meant to be advisory but they forced the thing through Westminster to make it seem like certain classes of people (and Gibraltar!) wanted to leave the EU...
JFDI - A49! @BrexitRage youtu.be/BfM77kburo0
Time better spent negotiating after exercising Article 49 of the Treaty on European Union - how a country can join the EU.
The more the UK diverges from the EU, the longer it will take to get back in, offering bad actors a chance to kibosh! @BrexitRage

"Brexit wasn't implemented properly" is an "argument" that is often advanced.
The UK left the European Union. Brexit was implemented properly.

No referendum, just a letter to start the ball rolling, from the PM to the EU Council. I believe they call it A49.

What a load of tosh - there is absolutely no need for another referendum on the EU question!
PM Burnham needs to send a letter to the EU Council telling them the UK wants to join the EU. The sooner, the better. @BrexitRage

One comment, repeated a few times in the article: "This is a total betrayal of Brexit Britain and [Burnham's] Makerfield pitch".
Many beg to differ - Burnham's reasoning is sound, and he needs to make clear the UK wants to join the EU soon! @BrexitRage

Apparently, patriotism now involves compulsory national pride and dressing a 40ft miner in a Union Jack.
Can we just enjoy being British without being given instructions by the flag police?

Frost was and is a fraud
He should never have been promoted to the Lords
@Lord_Sugar @UKHouseofLords
2026: David Frost criticises Labour for believing the 'propaganda' that Brexit has shrunk GDP 4-8%
2015: David Frost says being in the EU has raised GDP 5-8%
My view:
David Frost is a striking example of ideology being put ahead of reality—and of how that can pay off in politics. His hard-Brexit stance helped propel him into the role of chief Brexit negotiator and, ultimately, a seat in the House of Lords.
In 2015, Frost argued that EU membership had lifted UK GDP by “five, six, seven, eight per cent” through the single market.
Now he dismisses as “propaganda” the claim that Brexit has cost the UK 4–8% of GDP.
The estimates aren’t identical: one concerns the benefit of single-market membership, the other the cost of leaving. But the contradiction is hard to miss. Frost once used a large GDP estimate to make the case for the EU; now, when estimates point to Brexit’s economic damage, he waves them away as propaganda.
That isn’t a serious engagement with the evidence. It’s an ideological position being defended at any cost.
And Frost is hardly alone. Too many politicians and public figures have chosen the career advantage of repeating a convenient line over the harder duty of telling the truth about what is best for the country.
When people are rewarded for helping to damage the nation they serve, that is a profound failure of democratic accountability.
