Somehow, I haven't Tweeted about this, really.

ACLU Releases Video of ICE Agent Slashing Observers’ Tire
ICE agents tailed, boxed in, and then slashed the tire of observers’ vehicle before driving away
ICE is terrorizing our communities—now slashing tires of a Portland resident who attempted to shine a light on their abusive behavior. Amid ICE's unlawfulness, the right to bear witness has never been more important to hold our government accountable aclu.org/press-releases/aclu…

In the AOL days, I searched for stories about the Usual Suspects in 1995 and found a rumor from the set that Spacey stole Bryan Singer's very young bf.
That story has never come up since, to my knowledge, but... it rings familiar, doesn't it?

Jane Fonda says standing against the Paramount-Warner Bros. merger is “sad for me because I like David Ellison very much” but it’s “not a personal thing”:
“I am hopeful that we can stop it. They’re carrying so much debt. The Ellisons are carrying so much debt, and you know it’s being postponed now, so that they have to pay these huge sums. The merger would be terrible for consumers. Prices would go up. Thousands and thousands of people would lose their jobs. And as a creative, the fewer studios there are, the fewer places that we can take our products. We lose bargaining power. Unions lose their power. There’s a very robust and growing movement to stop the mergers. And it, you know, it’s sad for me because I like David Ellison very much. David’s Skydance financed 'Grace and Frankie,' my seven-year-long run for Netflix, and I got to know him, and I like him. But that doesn’t change things. This is not a personal thing. This is what it will do to the entertainment industry, which is already suffering terribly.”

Could one of this year’s most acclaimed international films fall through the cracks at the #Oscars?
• Andrey Zvyagintsev’s “Minotaur,” a scathing portrait of corruption in Putin’s Russia that won the Grand Prize at Cannes, is emerging as one of the strongest contenders to represent France in the international feature Oscar race
• But in recent years, the French industry has pushed back against the idea that the country should be represented by a foreign-born filmmaker working largely outside the French language
• A dissident Russian filmmaker, Zvyagintsev lives in France with asylum status, where “Minotaur” was largely financed and produced. Russia is unlikely to submit the film because of its political stance, meaning it could miss awards season entirely if France passes.

The central conciet of the The Wire is that people are the product of institutions and you should reserve judging them too harshly, except for Cheese who is just an asshole that makes terrible choices of his own volition

A quick reminder that Kyle Rittenhouse showed up to a protest like this, shot and killed others and was celebrated by MAGA. Meanwhile Alex Pretti showed up to a protest like this, was shot and killed, then condemed by MAGA. Please stop saying this isn’t political.

Deirdre Lovejoy, (ASA Rhonda Pearlman) heard from a district attorney she trailed during the show’s run that “every Sunday night in Baltimore, for three and a half years, the wiretaps would all go dead, and it is because all of the wiretapped people were watching The Wire.”
Replying to @RWBB4U
Mob guys used to watch The Sopranos because it rang fundamentally true to them. Ghetto heroin dealers wouldn't even be able to understand the black characters' dialogue on The Wire half the time.
