I know this may be an unpopular opinion and I generally try to be a nice guy, but at this point coronavirus can get bent. If it could just excuse itself from existence that’s be great.

When the pandemic first started I was hopeful of a vaccine, but worried that it could have taken a long time to begin getting shots into people's arms. The images we have been seeing lately have been so hopeful and a release of emotions. Stay safe, we are almost out of this!

Hey Tweeps it's been awhile. This has been my life lately. I'm done with training and it was pretty crazy! Soon I will be off to the Pacific Northwest for my first duty location!

This is bad. ICE just told students here on student visas that if their school is going online-only this fall, the students must depart the United States and cannot remain through the fall semester. ice.gov/news/releases/sevp-m…

Do US citizens understand how stressful it is to be an immigrant scientist in the US? Far from family/friends, never ending visa bureaucracy & payments, constant fear of not being allowed back in the US, or being forced to leave your home/job/PhD due to some ban

A couple days after George Floyd’s death, my grandfather texted me and told me he’s glad that I am not living in the U.S. right now because he would fear for my life as a young black man. As days have passed, this text from my grandfather has not been able to leave my mind.

Now would be a good time to remind Everyone that this happened earlier this month. No tear gas. No bullets.

We're hearing unconfirmed reports that gas lines to the Third Precinct have been cut and other explosive materials are in the building. If you are near the building, for your safety, PLEASE RETREAT in the event the building explodes.

In many ways, this should be entirely obvious, but we now have strong evidence that social distancing results in decreased #COVID19 transmission rates. 1/7

So, the last week I have been battling COVID-19 & Pneumonia. Never in my life have I been this ill. “Young people aren’t at risk, they’ll only have mild symptoms” Wrong. I want to open up about the difficulties I’ve gone through these past days, what it was like in the ICU...

I've been mulling over the @MRC_Outbreak modeling report on #COVID19 mitigation and suppression strategies since it was posted on March 16. Although mitigation through social distancing may not solve things I believe we can bring this epidemic under control. 1/19

Potential silver lining: are there any climate scientists researching how this pandemic will affect climate change? Could this have significant effects or just a small blip on a bigger picture? Maybe a modern data point for people to clearly see and advocate with going forward.

I got a question for you tweeps. Has anyone seen transposon insertion bias like this? There is an insanely large peak at about 2.75Kb that spans roughly 100kb. oriC is around 3,918,000bp. Desperately need some guidance here. Library strain is based off E. coli BW25113.

Don’t panic and do your part! We can minimize this if we all make wise actions moving forward.
I'm aware that a lot of people are anxious right now, and that's right - up to a point. Remember that *at this moment* in *most* places the community incidence is still low (even if much greater than testing suggests). 1/n
