GEORGIA IS ONE OF ONLY 10 STATES THAT HAVE NOT EXPANDED MEDICAID! Let that sink in! The 10 states are Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. 40 states and Washington, D.C. have adopted Medicaid expansion. Why hasn’t Georgia? As a healthcare professional for almost 30 years, I have seen firsthand what happens when people cannot afford healthcare. They delay treatment, conditions get worse, and preventable illnesses become life-threatening. Meanwhile, hospitals are struggling, families are suffering, and hardworking Georgians are going without the care they need. The federal government covers 90% of the costs for the Medicaid expansion population. We need to have a serious conversation about why Georgia continues to turn down this opportunity. Healthcare should NEVER be determined by your income, your ZIP code, or your political affiliation! This is not a Democratic or Republican issue. This is a HUMAN issue! We can disagree on politics, but we should all agree that access to healthcare matters. Faith without works is dead. We cannot continue talking about helping people without taking action.
